Heard this CD while traveling on tour in the UK. I was very taken with it, and bought it when I got home.
I can't believe how well it went with the English countryside as we traveled. Now it causes me to harken back to that trip!
The music, in my opinion, is very beautiful with lots of different instrumentation and voices. There has to something everyone would love on the album.

Oldfield's music has been a big part of my life since 1973, and although I've been vaguely aware of his various psychological difficulties -- shyness, panic attacks, borderline autism -- I never thought much about them. His autobiography deals frankly with them in illuminating detail, more than it deals with his music or musical inspiration. He is a singular artist and these insights into his psyche make for fascinating reading.

Unfortunately (as another reviewer noted) Michael has chosen to write without a ghost writer. Surprisingly for someone so capable of weaving musical lines together, his writing is scattershot and ill-organized. Incidents from his childhood and adulthood collide, without common themes, and he frequently takes off on tangents which interrupt the flow. ... Read More

There are several absolutely gorgeous tracks on this album, including my favourite "Sunset". There are some less good too, but worth buying in my opinion,

4.Seven Lives Many Faces (2 CDs) by: Enigma

: Seven Lives Many Faces (2 CDs)
Five songs into Seven Lives Many Faces, I was convinced that I would never buy another Enigma CD again. The CD started with the obligatory horns and breathy, spoken-word vocals followed by two of the most mediocre Enigma songs I had ever heard. Track number 4, "The Same Parents" was interesting, but a little too cliche in its message. As I listened, the death of Enigma was nearly sealed with "Fata Morgana", an absolutely forgettable composition.

But as "Fata Morgana" transitioned into track 6, "Hell's Heaven" my ears took notice. "Hell's Heaven" opens with a heartbreaking chord progression that gives way to a sinister bass beat and then into rising string stabs. The truth is that Enigma has never done anything this interesting or experimental on any of the previous six albums. Another reviewer ... Read More

I was really looking forward to something new from Oldfield. I have Tubular Bells 1, 2, and 3, and just like the cover shows (I should have seen it coming), this is Tubular Bells 4. Some of the same guitar licks, sounds, beats. I was expecting it to move forward, but really, it's a retrospective, so my expectations were incorrectly set. So, get this for its own sake - the music will sound really familiar.
There are many spoken and chanted parts, which sometimes help and sometimes make one cringe. In fact, I may have to drop my other Oldfield items from my wish lists. Maybe the library has them to borrow?

In the course of human history, ever since the first hints at any musical appreciation whatsoever, we have remembered those who stood out among their peers during their time. Those who appreciate good music recall the names of Hildegard von Bingen, Beethoven, Bach, Ray Charles, The Beatles, and on and on. To all of you who have not heard this piece of music or are not familiar with the music of Mike Oldfield, let me say that for as long as humanity exists in the universe, and for as long as that humanity has an appreciation for music, that humanity will know the music of Mike Oldfield.
I am a devoted fan, but I believe that this man will be recognized as one of our kind's most talented, imaginative, and gifted artists for centuries and perhaps eons to come. If you have the opportunity to hear this man's music, ... Read More

This album is truly inspiring and captures the best of Tangerine Dream.
Since the early eighties, the sound and style of Tangerine Dream experienced a major transformation and not a positive one for me.
With Booster, I can enjoy the best from the old and new Tangerine Dream in an innovative album.
As an amateur astronomer, I always bring inspiring space music when observing in the field. This album is a must in every trip.

I personally would like to have 1% of Mike Oldfield's talent, how many people realize how much time and effort go into the concerts and albums that Mike does. All you wannabees who like to tear apart Mike, could you do it any better? Mike Oldfield is one of the last remaining musicians that puts his heart into his music. He makes his music for the fans, and because he loves the music. I haven't listened to his new upcoming release Music of the Spheres, but based on all his other GREAT works i know it will be great. Why don't you just sit back and enjoy the music, you might find some real jewels if you wouldn't pick it apart.Mike Oldfield is the most talented musician, composer, engineer, you name it, on the face of the planet, bar none, and that's the truth.

I have been a fan of Asia since the early 80's and have just purchased their new CD Phoenix. I can tell everyone this and it is great to listen to real muscians, not the de sensitised so called music of todays generation of mindless rap crap and its off shoots. I am not saying there is not great muscians today but I don't feel they get to bring forth there talents as muscians of the 70 & 80's.

This new CD from Asia has the sound and sophistacation from these true muscians. This collection purely broght back memories of an age gone past, this age could do much good in its re surgence.

Sit back and indulge yourself in this age less collection. I hope there will be further colaberations from these talented muscians
