Disappointing, I'd say. Very good actors in a somewhat predicatble all too "feel good" film. We rented it - I wouldn't buy it. I'd give it 2 and a half stars if I could.

Although I didn't care for this movie, my niece loved it and wanted it as a birthday gift. She likes Hayden Christensen and suspenseful movies, so this was a perfect selection for her. The movie had action and lots of teleportation, but highly believable, it is not.

I cannot believe how many women actually like this movie. I found it insulting that the audience could believe that there exists a professional woman in NYC completely obsessed with everything that is shallow about weddings in such a way that she has time to attend/coordinate them and be so close to 27 brides that she gets asked to be in their wedding party. Not only is the romantic plot hard to believe, a man who has been so harshly cynical about weddings, and possibly marriage itself, falls for a woman that is marriage and wedding-crazy (because I guess men secretly adore women who are desperate to get married), but it also has the most ludicrous scenes between the "lovers"!

The worst scene, in my opinion, was the one where she tries all the dresses for him, complete with hair and make ... Read More

*10,000 B.C.* just couldn't quite be THE movie, although there were quite some interesting elements in it.

This movie focuses on a clan during a time when mammoths and sabertooths roam the earth. D'leh is isolated from his peers because his father, the clan's leader, had forsaken them. Also in the clan is the adopted blue-eyed girl.

When the girl is taken hostage in a land faraway, which you assume to be Egypt, D'leh and a few men go after them. And, along the way, they encounter little adventures.

Simple story with minimal dialogues. It's a simple damsel-in-distress plot that works just about every time. While there were cool special effects, there were misses here and there. I think what really hurt this film was that the story moved at a slow pace. Slow pace ... Read More

Ryan Reynolds is one of my favorite actors so it always disappoints me when one of his films doesn't thrill me. This movie lacked plot and substance. There is a man who is going through a divorce and he is telling his young daughter about three women he dated around the time he met her mother. The little girl is supposed to guess which one by the descriptions ends up being her mother. I thought all of the actresses (with the exception of the little girl) lacked personality making it only tolerable to watch. "Definitely, Maybe" was okay but not worth buying before you have seen (like I tend to do). The previews show the film.

I enjoyed the movie because it was entertaining all the way. It was slick and had interesting characters. The only problem was the last half of it where credibility when flying out the window. The movie is all about supposedly very intelligent people, led by the smartest of the all the group, the only veteran in this college age-dominated cast: "Professor Mickey Rosa," played by Kevin Spacey. Well, Rosa would not do what he did here, for starters, meaning trusting an untrustworthy and revenge-seeking kid. If you've seen the movie you know what I mean. The others in the group wouldn't go along with the renegade - "Ben Campbell" (Jim Sturgess) - either. There is no way this kid is going to totally outsmart the professor, but it makes for good Hollywood dramatics.

There are a bunch of other holes, too, such as wanting ... Read More

"Untraceable," starring Diane Lane as Jennifer Marsh, head of the FBI Portland Cyber Crimes unit, uses as background gruesome, horrifically twisted crimes. This casts a dark cloud of foreboding over the proceedings.
A new website, KillWithMe.com, pops up with real images of a cat innocently lapping up milk from a saucer. The computer hacker has arranged that, the more people hit the website, the faster the cat will be killed through a contraption he's hooked up. Soon after, the stakes are raised when a human being appears on the website, his destiny linked to the number of curiosity seekers who tune in to watch. Teamed with local Portland police Detective Eric Box (Billy Burke), Jennifer races to close down the website and find the hacker/killer.
Despite all-out efforts on the part of the FBI and local police, ... Read More
