Nothing new - considering Josh Grban's incredible voice, I was expecting more. Also, the CD audio quality seemed harsh.

He obviously has a delightful voice, but he's also obviously an amateur. Even with orchestration so close to Il Divo's (and that was a cheap shortcut in my estimation) it wasn't enough to hide the fact he should spend a good solid year with a voice coach before he decides he's professional. It's an enjoyable CD but I wasn't impressed enough to play it very often.

Celine Dion's first proper English language studio effort in over four years feels alot like her previous "comeback" effort after an extended hiatus, 2002's A NEW DAY HAS COME. Whereas that set announced her return after taking time out to start a family, TAKING CHANCES returns her to the buying public at the near-end of a five year stay at Caesar's in Las Vegas. The time away has allowed the singer(or maybe more knowingly her handlers) to take stock at the shift in musical tastes as well as current radio demographics since her last record, and much like ANDHC and even LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE, she tries to cover as much musical ground as possible with varying results. In doing so, however, that nasty filler problem that's crept up in many of her records has again surfaced, with the album being 3 or ... Read More

Sarah Brightman's 'Symphony' is yet another example of how the acclaimed 'Angel of Music' takes classical music genres and brings life to them.

True to its title, 'Symphony' takes on a more gothic symphonic rock style from Ms. Brightman's previous albums, while sticking to her traditional crossover formula. The best example of this is in 'Fleurs du Mal' (Flowers of Evil), which opens with a strong beat and some amazing high notes. A reprise of this song appears at the end of the album as a hidden track. 'Fleurs du Mal' is probably the best song on the album because it literally grabs listeners' attention from the first second.

Some of the songs have a more melancholic mood, like 'I Will Be with You' (with Paul Stanley), which was the theme for a 2007 Pokemon movie, but there's no denying ... Read More

Like many Americans, I was first introduced to the magic of Andrea Bocelli through television. I often find myself still reaching for "Romanza" as a way to relax and take a journey through a musical masterpiece. Though it was recorded over a decade ago, the album has, for the most part, withstood the test of time.

To get the reason for the four-star rating out of the way: several songs on the album do date themselves to the mid-90s. I was never a big fan of the saxophone-driven jazz accompanied by synthesizers that was popular ten years ago, and it is for this reason that I don't give the album five stars. For those who love this style of music, songs like 'E Chiove' and 'Le Tue Parole' will sound fanstastic. And, while 'Caruso' has become a classic in some circles, the song simply isn't my cup of tea.
