It's ok to be a dreamer. It's ok to want to 'find yourself.' It's really ok to hike and backpack. I've done it myself, but I would never, never enter a wilderness area without, at least, a topographical map. Chris McCandless' story is nothing short of tragic.
Jon Krakauer does a fine job of getting you into the mind of this doomed traveler while also taking you into the adventure and beauty of the wilderness.

What i Got out of this movie was simply that this young man lacked nothing materially, but was starved for a relationship with his dad and mom, and had the father wound so common for american young men... having grown up with hard working dads who come home at night spent, and who spend lots of time assembling their portfolios and place their security in how much money they have and what status level they are at, how many toys they have..ect ect.. this young man had probably been told most of his life what to do, how to do it, and this is what success is blah blah... you must look like this, act like this, go here and do this and he was damn tired of it, and wanted to find out who he really was, and if it was impossible to find himself in the presence of his family then he had to ... Foo Fighters in my opinion took a nose dive previously on "In Your Honor". Skip two years to 07' and we have another Foo album to submerge ourselves into. Thankfully I managed to really take a liking to this one.

The variety of songs is much better then 'IYH', avoiding the categorizing process the last album strained and nit picked to the final bits (to the point you got dry hard rock, or dynamic free acoustic). Echoes eases up an intro, The Pretender, suitable to be "Stairway To Heavens" alternate take. Once you're comfortable with the chiming guitar, a wall of bricks is bound to hit you in the Foo's universe. Displaying such tight hard rock driven guitar, and overall fantastic musicianship, it could put a grin on ones face. My personal favorite track is "Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners". ... Read More

This is a great product for everyone from hard core fans to people who simply heard a couple of their songs on the radio. Great set list, superb photography and composition. There are also some good interviews between songs. An all around quality product.

A lot of hubub over this album.

Bodysnatchers is absolutely rockin', Jigsaw Falling Into Place is great, and the rest of the album seems to be music I can fall asleep too. Radiohead goes way too close to being Coldplay snoozer music with a few progressive sounds and occasional addition of drums. The Bends and OK Computer continue to be the best albums, but this one ain't bad...it just ain't that exciting either.

Seemed like an unlikely pairing when I first heard about this CD, but I like Alison Krause so I gave it a chance. Nice album that improves with repeated listening. Better to mix it with other music though because the chord structure is a little heavy if you just play the CD straight. Alison K's voice is unreal. With that high range, reminds me of a young Baez. Sister Rosetta, Trampled Rose, Gone Gone Gone, and others are really good music. Check it out.

Accelerate can be one of those albums which fans, upset with R.E.M.'s last few releases, may judge too highly, throwing out words like comeback just to describe a vague adult-rock, easy going consistency in a way which almost insults some of their finer intricacies.

This is the absolute worst CD I have ever encountered. It really seems like everyone forgot how good he was before, and just gave him credit for this disaster based on all the hype about it. People, this is not even close to a fair CD. There is a constant "drone" throughout this entire CD and there is not one good song on here. Every song sounds the same and like a depressed middle-aged man is singing the songs. Really listen to this one or borrow it before you spend the money on it. I would give him another chance, but this one sucked!

I will never buy another Coldplay album without hearing it first. This is the best example of a "DBB" (download it before buying it) album. I can understand how a band should evolve and not repeat themselves. From The Beatles to Depeche Mode we have seen bands changing their style album after album but STILL each album is great. Tough I didn't expect another A Rush of Blood album I sure expected great melodies or complex arrangements. None of this is found here. Sure, "VIVA LA VIDA" is one of the greatest songs of this years and one of Coldplay's best, but do we have to go all through an album of dull "songs" just to have one or at the most 2 great songs?? I can't believe this is the same Brian Eno that produced such gems with Bowie and Talking Heads. I guess a producer can't do much when the artist lacks completes inspiration. ... Read More

Filled with soothing and relaxing tunes. He will always be in my top ten of singer-songwriters...with his beautiful voice. However, there is a sameness to his music....one of the reasons I follow a new emerging SS Arrica Rose who truly takes risks in her latest album, La La Lost with a variety a musical styles...lyrics that are quirky but with depth and insight...each song... more powerful than the other.
