This is a very fine salty salt - strong, toothsome, and delicious. Don't use it for cooking - that's a waste - use it a a 'finishing' salt - sprinkle over your food just before eating (and remember to reduce the salt used in cooking) - I particularly love it on freshly cut tomatoes. This is a luxury item for me, and I wouldn't be without it!

I love the taste of this salt, as another viewer did state the black coloring of the salt does spread. The salt crystals are a good size with out being over powering.

I just have to say that I agree with the first reviewer. I really had a good experience with this product. I was buying it for a friend, it came very quickly, the product is unique, and it is something that everyone can use. The customer service was outstanding.

I learned about this salt while visiting Arcachon, France and observing my friend cooking in her kitchen. When I asked about it, her husband conducted a taste test with regular table salt used in the US and Fleur de Sel from Guerande. The table salt tastes bitter and over powering compared to the lovely mild flavor of this hand harvested sea salt. So when I got home, I ordered myself some. There is a huge difference in the flavor of foods I'm cooking now!

This salt pig is probably larger than what you need if you only want to use a bit of salt at a time. It's really huge in my view; and I'd prefer less salt be exposed to air and other "kitchen elements" (steam, bugs, dirt, whatever) at any one time. I also was confused by the advertiszing on Amazon somehow and bought 2 thinking it would cost $17.00 when it cost $34.00! Can't even imagine putting that much pepper in one of these things However, on a more positive note, these are beautiful items; and one could put an inner scene of some kind within one pig at Easter time as a decorative item. If you could avoid attracting bugs, one pig could hold sugar. I recommend smaller sizes for the average cook and also feel this pig should be $14-15 rather than $17.00.

This was given to me as a christmas gift and is my cookbook BIBLE!!!!!!! EVERY recipe I've tried here has made me feel faint with bliss, yes, every single recipe I've tried has been rediculously tasty, this man is genius at combining flavours. Try the poussins with sundried tomatoes and chianti whatever it was called oh my god you won't be sorry, I ate nearly the whole pot whilst my husband barely got a look in, I just couldn't help myself. The fifteen christmas salad is so, so tasty, and the port chops with apple stilton and sage were utterly divine. If I'm entertaining and need really impressive food, this book is ALWAYS my first port of call.

This agave syrup is very good, very sweet, so you do not have to use very much. Great in healthy muffins.

I have to turn the top until my arm gets tired to get the desired amount of salt out of it! I'm going to try the Peugeot salt grinder; their pepper grinder is excellent!
