The set up was painless and the XM radio is awesome. The XM weather is handy in states with weather.. cali .. not so much! The startup costs (tying to a autocom system) are a little steap but you forget real quick when you are making phone calls direct on the GPS, listening to XM, MP3 player and using the navigation. This is a very powerful tool, and is a must have if you can afford it. I have Garmin products on both my boats and all three of my trucks/car. As usual the performance with Garmin is superb. Easy installation required one call to the Garmin Tech Dept. Their Tech Dept. is by far the most caring and concerned Tech people I have ever run into. I have it on my flats boat and ventured out in the ocean on a very calm day. The product gave excellant "coverage" on reading the bottom in water up to 300 feet. Here in South Florida most of my boating/fishing is in shallow salt water. I do fish off it for Bass in Lake lanier, Ga and Deep water lakes in Texas. Performed flawlessly. The vision chart is the icing on the cake. I still can not beleive all it does for navigating and the different views of the bottom. I just refitted my Bertram with two 5208's and Garmin radar. ... Read More

The BlueChart Maps provide plenty of detail and are fairly simple to read on your device. The programs are also fairly simple to load on your PC, unlock and upload onto your Garmin device. There is one major flaw to this software...when you buy the CD you can only unlock one very small portion of the maps, if you want to unlock additional maps on your CD you need to purchase an unlock certificate for each region you wish to unlock. IMO if you buy the CD you should be able to access and use the ENTIRE CD. Just another way to rip off the consumer!
