I bought these to use as under-shelf lighting for bookshelves I use for craft shows. The Dots DO provide light, and the battery seems to last forever (I used them for HOURS) but weren't as bright as needed them to be. That said, I only tried them out in the above instance, and not in any other, so they may be perfect for dark closets, etc. They did burn very brightly when accidently turned on in my empty Totes box! The sticky tape on the back is VERY sticky, so do NOT put these on anything with a coating. I had to repaint my black shelves when I took them off.

Try 10 hours of useable (that you can read by) light, and perhaps 25 hours of any light at all. But then comes the real fun - changing the batteries. AAA batteries are easy to find these days, and I had plenty in stock when the time came. But the three phillips head screws that keep the light together are an odd size. None of the many phillips head screwdrivers in the house fit it, not even my computer sized ones or the ones I had to fix sunglasses (the screws are somewhere inbetween those two sizes). If I have to buy a screwdriver to change the batteries on one light, it's not worth my time. Especially if that light doesn't even work as advertised.

i have a very small closet and bought 4 of these. even in a straight line, side by side, they do not illuminate well. they are dim with a faint glow. too bad, because they are cute and convenient....just don't work as intended!Sylvania 35046 Red and Silver Dot It, Portable LED light, 2-Pack # LED/DOTS/RED/SILV

I put three of these in my closet so I could see my clothes better. The light they provided was minimal. I wouldn't recommend these for anything more than a gloves compartment in a car or carryone one around to see a keyhole.

I NEEDED A LITTLE-LITE IN MY THEATER-ROOM. THIS LIGHT UNIT WAS PERFECT, IT GIVES JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF LIGHT TO READ LABELS WITHOUT BRIGHTEN UP THE OTHER AREAS. ALSO IT'S VERY WELL PRICED FOR THE VALUE.

I have purchased this product several times from several places - things get stolen or broken in construction. The rubber strap works pretty well on hardhats (as designed) until 3-4 months later. Then it gets a little dirty on the 'softgrip' pad, and tends to fall off the hard hat. I've never used the strap that comes (as a bonus to me) for use on the bare head. The light lasts a LONG time on one LED usage, and on any setting is plenty bright with new to mid life batteries.

Good value for the money. Inexpensive compared to Duracell, but work well and have decent life.

The concept and form factor of this item is great. The electronics are the only reason it does not get a top rating. It WILL burn through light bulbs and batteries VERY fast. If you used this very briefly every day in a closet, it will more than likely need a bulb replacement within a couple weeks. After getting fed up with replacing bulbs and batteries (I have 3 of these), I decided to take things into my own hands. I went to a local hardware store and purchased a 9 LED high output flashlight rated for 16 hours of continuous use on 3 AA batteries. It was about $6. After about 30 min of hacking I had a completely new "bulb" running on 3 AA batteries instead of 4 with greatly increased battery life, almost endless bulb life, and at least twice the brightness (if not more). Ok, maybe I just didn't read into the product enough, but I thought they would be push to turn on lights. There is a magnet, and I really can't figure out a good way to use the magnet... how make it work with a cabinet, because the light and magnet need to touch, and it just wouldn't work. It does put off a good amount of light, I'll give you that. But I find it impractical, and I would not have bought it if I knew how it would work.
