I own this product along with the Proraso shaving cream and its the best after shave lotion on the market today. Proraso has high quality products that are the first that have never caused me the get razor bumps or skin rash. I normally dont shave everyday because my skin is so poor for shaving, but with Proraso products I could definitely do it.

There's nothing particularly wrong with Merkur blades, but they don't provide enough of a positive difference over the competition to be worth the extra cost. These are very basic razor blades, selling on Amazon for between $.50 - $.75 per blade. You can get Derbys for $.20 (100-pack for $20, with Amazon's free shipping), or get a pack of generic blades from Walgreen's, Wal-Mart, or any local pharmacy (almost all generic brand blades in the US are made by the American Safety Razor Company, and are surprisingly effective) for between $.15 (Wal-Mart) and $.35 (Walgreens) a blade. And if it's quality you're after, you should be using Feather or Swedish Gillettes. I have used Merkur, and they provide a fine shave, but there are cheaper solutions that do as good of a job.

As close as any blade I have ever used. And it is way better than any of the diposable razors from Gillette or shick or any of that other high-priced junk.

I bought this razor from another place, but I had been scoping it out here for awhile and felt I had to write a review. I'm 20 years old so I'm not an old timer with nostalgia, I just was looking for a better shave. It just happens to be a better shave that is much much cheaper. When I first got this I was afraid of cutting my face off. I'm happy to say I've been using it a week with not a single cut. It is absolutely amazing how much better this is than my old Gillette fusion. It is much closer, and absolutely zero irritation. Even where I used to get irritated on my neck is absolutely irritation free. I seriously recommend taking the plunge and getting one of these. You won't regret it, and it will quickly pay for itself.

This is a wonderful entry-level badger hair brush. I am, however, disappointed with the cheap plastic so-called "stand." It is junk! It is no more than something to keep the brush from being damaged in the plastic tube it is in. Not sure if they sell this without the stand, if so, and it is cheaper, I would not get this stand. rather I would purchase a seperate stand.

This only the second shaving brush I've used, the first being a really cheap boar hair brush. The Tweezerman is much better. It cleans and dries much more quickly, and it doesn't lose as many bristles per shave as the cheaper one. I'm giving it a four because it's a the first badger hair brush I've used, and perhaps the more expensive ones do a better job. If you're just getting started with wet-shaving, I'd go with the Tweezerman. You don't want to invest in a really expensive brush, then end up not liking it. This one does its job and is not overpriced.

I guess I too had bought into the marketing hype, I'm sure the next thing will be a five bladed razor, one less refill in the packs and holding the price the same for the refills. Gone are the $10 refill packs with this razor. Low cost, SHARP blades for a real barbershop style shave. Okay so the first couple days, I came out looking like I was attacked by a vampire. This morning, I figured out, NO pressure. Just use the weight of the head, and it'll do the work for you. I have very sensitive skin, I can't even use an electric razor, and have to use the special shaving creams. Well I got a tube of the Proraso for my birthday with this razor. Great stuff as well!
