I took ballet for a couple of years as a child but now as an adult am struggling to find more active activities than sewing. I don't like aerobics or running because of the high impact nature of the sports, and I have trouble breathing while doing those. I was pleasingly surprised by this dvd (I've only done the first one so far), at how much of a workout is possible with simple, low impact movements. I was breathing harder after a few of the exercises and could feel my muscles working hard. It was also nice to have that connection with gracefulness, rather than just a sports workout. The music is enjoyable and it doesn't take too long to get the hang of the ballet moves. I highly recommend this dvd!

I was very pleased with this video. I'm taking an adult ballet class for exercise and I bought this video to supplement that class, since that only meets once per week. This workout is great. It concentrates a lot on the legs and butt, which are needed areas for me. I feel that doing this workout during the week has really helped me improve in class too. It's a great value.

the sizing on this shoe is not as listed.. same as street size. i bought a pair for my daughter a half size larger just in case and they were still about a size too small.

This is a rather boring and stiff DVD - my 3.5 year old daughter watched it for 5 minutes before asking for a change. This may scare some people off from ballet rather than encouraging them! The disclaimers at the front of the DVD, although perhaps necessary - add to the sense of seriousness of this DVD. Not recommended.

I am an adult ballet student with about five years under my belt. I have heard and read much about the legendary David Howard and his ground-breaking technical ballet training. I ordered this DVD hoping to improve my understanding about fundamentals like posture and the impetus of movement, for which he is known. After watching this DVD, I can not believe that he even bothered to put this out. This is only the most basic of reviews of steps that anyone with a year of ballet training will already know. He spends less than a minute talking about posture and really doesn't say anything all that helpful. The only section where he gives any technical information at all is the plie section. I've worn this shoe for over a year and it's only since had a little bit of thread unravel under one of the forefoot pads. The shoe runs small (I wear a 7M in street shoe and 8M in Capezio), as most Capezio products run a size or so smaller. The front was a bit tight and the heel a bit baggy but I will not take off a star b/c my feet tend to feel that way in all shoes - the leather will stretch out and a heel liner fixed up the bagginess fine. The shoe is also pretty light. It hugs my arch beautifully and the "insole" is actually a piece of leather sewn in, attached in the same seams to the forefoot and heel pads on the outside off the shoe. It gives a nice bit of resistance as opposed to Bloch or Sansha that don't have a true insole and just a leather lining.

I purchased these shoes because I've always trusted capezio but the shoes just do not hold up well at all. I use them twice a week and have for the last 5 weeks and they already look awful like i've had them for years. The gathering on the bottom is beginning to come undone already too. I would suggest looking for a better model of shoe.
