Well, this is not a truffle paste or a truffle tapenade. This is a mixture of Champignon mushrooms, black olives, black truffles, olive oil, spices as mentioned on the items description. So, I think it is too pricey! That said it tastes wonderful and I would buy it again and again. :) Truffles are very flavorful and fragranced mushrooms for those of you wondering, so if you don't like mushrooms I am pretty sure you won't like truffles. I add this tapenade to my cooking (from meals to eggs), and I like to make a small sandwich sometimes, which my husband and I share. If we don't spoil ourselves now, when will we? ;) I recommend this item.

I first found these magnificent Madagascar Vanilla Beans on David Lebovitz's web site that links to his Amazon store! I ordered one, then two, and more. I have given the web address to countless people, so they too can place an order. I have people who know people, who know people, emailing asking where they can order this fabulous product at such a great price. I place an empty bean pod into a canister of sugar and use it when I need just a hint of that marvelous vanilla taste. The beans are a treasure on their own, flavoring everything better. Place your order with this fine company, but please leave me and David our fair share!

Most reviewers seem to agree the quality of these mushrooms will add that special magic to any dish requiring their use. There is a decent ratio of whole mushrooms to stems. I assume the more expensive Grade 'Extra AA' offering by JR Mushrooms has more mushroom cap slices instead of so many stems. As dried mushrooms have a very long shelf life buying them in bulk makes sense to anyone who like me loves to spontaneously prepare a good Porcini based Ragu Sauce, Polenta or Risotto but cringes at driving to the local supermarket to pay $6.99 an ounce for a skimpy cellophane bag of mushroom bits. This company shipped my order to the West Coast in what seemed to be overnight delivery.
