The batteries when fully charged last only 20 minutes each and by then the trimmer will barely rotate. Batteries also lose their charge if not used often and it may take three to nine hours to fully recharge. It is disheartening to be almost done with the task and lose power.

I'm not very happy with this product. The way the line is wound around the spool for some reason it will not advance automatically. I have to continuously remove the spool cover and physically advance the line by hand.

Over the past few years I have accumulated a variety of Black & Decker 18 volt powered tools. Needless to say, the accompanied plug in chargers take their sweet time bringing the battery to full power. On average the batteries have required almost 4 hours before reaching full charge. The Black & Decker 9.6-18V charger has been a welcome surprise. It completely recharges batteries in about 2 hours or less. This nicely weighted accessory is a time saver and a worthy investment that has more then paid for itself. I own two of these units and highly recommend this product.

The Firestarter batteries seem to last longer than the batteries that came with the tools (regular B&D batteries).

This is my second one in three years. My battery charger quit working,so I bought a whole new unit. I really didn't use the hedge trimmer that much and felt it should have a longer life and be of better quality. The product is lightweight and easy to use and the price is okay. All other rechargeable trimmers are more money. If the first one didn't have the battery charger problem, I would have rated the product higher.

This little pruner cuts great. It is heavy. Needs a little more power at times, but works just fine. Great product.

My favorite saw! We use chainsaws all year around to keep our snowmobile trails clear. In the winter months, most of the trees that we come across are small trees bent over the road from heavy snow load. Getting out one of the big saws takes time to get it started and running properly before being able to use it. This little saw is perfect for those small and quick cuts. It is light and small and super easy to use. We can keep it inside the snow cat under the seat. No gas fumes, no power cords. One good battery will last most of the day. However, anything larger than five to six inches is a huge battery drain and is best handled by one of our gas saws. This battery has about 15 minutes max in it. I love the cordless leaf blower that it powers; but I need 2 batteries to blow off my stoops, patio and pool deck. Charge time is slow, too. Fix that and B&D's outdoor products will be 5-star.

This is a good product that does what it promises: it extends your reach in trimming bushes and weeds. You can reach about five or six feet beyond your arm's length. That's the good news. The bad news: even though the trimmer is relatively light, you are still holding six or seven pounds at the end of a pole. That's a fair amount of leveraged weight. After twenty or thirty minutes of use, I was exhausted. And for days afterward my shoulders and back ached. I was forced to stop using the trimmer and return it to Amazon (which took it back, no questions asked--excellent customer service.)
