 : Biscoff with Chocolate

We fell in love with Lotus biscuits on a trip to Ireland (from the U.S.) a few years ago. Last year I discovered that I could buy both plain and chocolate biscoffs and I was thrilled. They are great in lunchboxes or for after dinner, and although relatively low in calories, they are satisfying - so I don't feel the need to eat more than one to feel like I've had a nice treat. Warning: don't have them shipped to Arizona (or other hot climates) in August. It doesn't do good things for the chocolate.

We gave away the Biscoff cookies (1 packet each) and a mock airline boarding pass to 300 women at a convention after a brief skit about an airline trip to a Gala.

I have never in my life seen ao many adult women so happy to recevie these cookies! They were like kids, some asking for two and three packets! It seemed that they were very familiar with this product and some commented that they are sorry that they no longer receive them as a snack on the real airlines.

 : Biscoff Cookie Jar

Several reviews have pointed out the fact that some of their cookies were broken up inside the jar and it's true that some of mine have been broken in their packaging, however none have been absolutely pulverized and let's face it, they're going to be broken up by your teeth anyway.

The cookies in this jar are just like the ones you're given on flights by several airlines. They have a nice cinnamon taste and a really great texture too. They're not overpowering and at the same time not addicting, you can munch on a couple and then stop without being disappointed.

The jar isn't anything special, it's just a plastic bucket. It holds the cookies, nothing more. I typically take mine out of the plastic bucket and put them in something else (in my case an antique Planter's ... Read More

I fell in love with the taste of Biscoff in Belgium, where they're called "speculaas" and bear no resemblance to the windmill cookies we know in the US. In Belgium, they serve one or two cookies with every cup of coffee or tea. When my stash from Belgium ran out, I remembered enjoying Biscoff on USAir, and found them online. These are individually packaged just like the ones on the airline or in the Belgian cafe. The packaging, though wasteful, works well to keep them fresh if you're trying to make them last.

I borrowed from my library as I do many movies. I tried to watch it but I, too, did not find any amusement and I checked the display and had already watched 37 minutes of it without the hint of a laugh. Does this movie start out REALLY slow because it just wasn't funny to me at all. I consider myself to have a pretty good sense of humor and I laugh easily at funny, witty lines. The bit with the guy who was under the influence of some drug was to me, something only young immature boys would find amusing. I found myself watching this like it was an assignment that I had to complete and I finally just stopped the DVD and gave up.

Not my "cup of tea", I guess.

The tenth in the cozy "Thoroughly Southern Mystery" series, this one has an especially searing climax.

Magistrate MacLaren (Mac) Yarbrough is working in the family business (Yarbrough Feed, Seed and Nursery) when her husband Joe Riddley comes in and handcuffs her to her huge oak desk-to prevent her from meddling in another murder, he claims.

But on the surface the death of Starr Knight just seems a tragic car accident. Later the medical investigation shows her death to be caused by a particularly savage beating.

The young Starr had lived a wild life, drinking and drugs as a teen, then a pregnancy that straightened her out and sent her home to live with her father, Trevor, and her toddler, Bradley. Lately she had left home, lost Bradley to foster care, and ... Read More

When I was a college student in Stony Brook, New York in 1974, I skipped a class one cold winter morning to stay in my dorm room and watch "Desk Set" on my roommate's black and white portable TV. It was a revelation. Since then I have graduated to watching it on DVD on my large screen color TV, and it continues to be a revelation. I won't repeat all the accolades of previous reviewers - who DOESN'T love the scene on the freezing rooftop or the floating island on a rainy night while Tracy's shoes are cooking in the oven? - but there are lots of delightful lesser moments, such as when Hepburn despairs of getting married and suggests to Blondell that they live together and keep cats (Gertrude Stein, anyone?) or when the continuity person didn't do their job, and Hepburn leaves the office building ...
