I love the item but it took a month to get it. The tomatoes were done before it came in the mail. It started in Michigan went to Maryland and back to Michigan before I got it.

This book is great for beginners or those with little experience in canning - especially pressure canning. Lots of recipes and instructions though a little higher-priced than I would have thought. For the experienced canner there is little in this book that you can't find online with a little effort through various recipe websites or other information resources. If you are just starting or learning the art of canning I recommend the book. However, for the rest of us it isn't worth the expenditure.

This was a very good purchase. I used all the tools when canning and it made it much easier for me to can properly. I especially liked the magnet to assist with getting lids out of boiling water. That was very handy during the canning process.

My garden has been producing fruit and vegetables more this year than it has in years past. I decided to bottle as much as I could and wanted to be sure I was doing things correctly. I purchased this book and it was delivered within the time frame it promised. The book provided me the confidence to continue on, which was what I was wanting to hear.

Canning & Preserving for DummiesI bought this book so I could learn the old art of preserving. I live in Maine and most of my neighbors have small farms and blueberry fields, so they offer me fresh fruits and vegetables all summer long, but I want to preserve them for those long, cold Maine winter nights.Hehehehehe. This book helped me preserve over 20 different fruits and vegetables and I love it. I now have most of my Xmas gifts all done.

I just started canning this summer, when it became clear that I could not keep up with the cucumbers and green beans coming from the CSA. I bought this book because it's pretty much required reading for all canners. So do buy the book if you're new to canning. It was very helpful in providing general information, as well as for figuring out vinegar-to-water ratios required to get the right acidity. And the recipes for Dilly Beans and Roasted Red Pepper Spread are fantastic. The fresh-pack Dill Pickle recipe, though, includes waaaay too much salt. I made one batch of pickles according to the Fast Favorite Garlic & Dill Pickles recipe on Epicurious.com, and it was perfect. I used to use a hot pad to insert and remove jars from the hot water bath, a dangerous situation. This jar lifter keeps my hands safely away from the hot water AND the hot jar. This is now one of my top 3 canning items along with a magnetic lid lifter and a canning pot for hot water baths.

This book is a must have for anyone with the slightest interest of canning, drying or freezing food. Only problem is my book is missing pages 155 through 186. It looks like a binder error, so there may be more out there with the same problem. Check as soon as it arrives.

This canner is a good price and works well. However it is best for 7 small mouth jars as the large mouth ones fit too tight in the rack and tricky to remove.
