I did a whole bunch of research and settled on the CanoScan 8800F. I used it to scan old color slides from my childhood. The only problem was that the slides are very dirty and the scanner is so good that it picked up all the dirt and scratches... I'm planning on cleaning the next batch of slides first. I also used the scanner as a copying machine (direct to printer) the other day and was very impressed. I'm very happy with this scanner.

I use these to rewrap the swabs in the sensor swab kit. Works the same. around 6 uses out of each pad. Less than a penny for each swab if you rewrap. Works flawlessly. Kodak recommends pec-pad for sensors when they still made dslrs.

I learned about PEC-12 at a professional photo convention in Chicago, years ago, and have been using it ever since. It will take Sharpie marker off both the base and emulsion side of film and prints with little or no residue. Also, I have cleaned/restored what looked like serious old water marks off of the base side of film shot in the in 1944. This film was nitrate 6x9 format negs, so without PEC-12, they were dumpster fodder.
Since then, I have used it to take Sharpie off of lots of surfaces. So.. just about any place that Sharpie marks or labels are a problem, give it a shot and it probably will solve the problem. I bought a pint last time and that probably will be a life time supply. No shelf life problem.

I have some old slides and they are dusty and have spots. I read in reviews that this cloth was recommended. I was very disappointed when it scratched one of my slides though it didn't scratch all of them. I would have to say to be careful and try on one that is not important. Even then I would be hesitant. Back to the drawing board as far as my slides. I will just use this cloth to clean my computer screens.

This products does exactly as intended and will extend the life of your negatives for sure. I have used them many times over the decades and they have improved them in quality and protection since I started buying these items back in the early 80's. If you have old negatives lying around get them out, wipe them off and place them in these sleeves to help save them and store them.

For those with little photography or scanning experience (i.e., not knowing about bits or resolution) this book would be of little value. However, for those with intermediate experince it is excellent. It discusses, in depth, factors that affect scanners (i.e., DPI, RAW vs JPEG, etc.) and does so in good detail. It points out the many practical fallacies that underlie advertising with respect to scanners (that DPIs for example really are very limited in telling you the resolving quality of different scanners as they vary so much between scanners even if they are stated to be the same (i.e., a 1600 dpi Nikon is not equivalent to a 1600 Canon).

The book also provides very good high resolution pictures that actually show difference in photos (i.e., different bit rates, resolutions, etc.). The ... Read More

Squeeze this baby and you get a strong blast of air. I've used it to blow dust off lenses and my DSLR sensor. I've used it to blow dust away from the subject of indoor macro shots. I also intend to use it to blow dust off slides prior to scanning.

The puff of air is stronger than my previous blower, which means fewer squeezes to remove dust, and it works on stubborn sensor dust my previous blower couldn't remove.

I had some old 1950's slides that had mold (?) spots. I read good reviews on this product and ordered it. I tested it first on some unimportant film and it worked fine. Unfortunately on one of my important slides it scratched it. I was also using the "tiger cloth" so not sure what could have scratched. I still recommend it but be very careful and test first.

Imagine my excitement when I finally find a film scanner (OpticFilm 7200) with such high reviews on the internet, after trying many solutions for digitizing a collection of 5,000+ slides... Only to find out this product cannot support Mac OS. Given the current upswing in market share of Mac products (MacBook and MacBook Pro hold position #7 and 8 on the Bestsellers in Computers & PC Hardware on Amazon as of this review), it is very unfortunate that Plustek has chosen to ignore such a sizable market of creative types whom would benefit from having access to their products...

Sad, sad indeed....
