I selected this model because of the great reviews it got. They were spot on. Compact enough to easily fit behind the driver's seat so that the front seat passenger could reach it easily. Large enough to carry the essentials for our trip. With the optional multi-purpose adapter, it is everything we needed in a portable, electric cooler.

Before retiring I drove a tractor trailer cross country for over 20 years, and used a chest cooler nearly all that time. When on the road it would be on 24/7 sometimes for weeks at a time,with very few problems. Koolarton has been around for a very long time,and makes a great cooler. These things work great if you use them properly. Unless you are willing to wait a long time for things to cool down,you must cool items down before putting them in the cooler. Also if you cool the inside of the cooler first,that would help even more. Try using Techni Ice packs on top of what you have in the cooler,they work great. Road trip to Detroit. Used it as mini fridge in the hotel room. 12 hrs hooked up to the car on my return. Stayed cool. Some water bottles actually froze. Takes a few hours to cool down but as previously suggested placing at least room temperature items in will speed up cool down process. Only snag was however to pay additonal for home adaptor. Should come with product. Otherwise 5 stars.

We received the Koolatron in a timely manner in good condition. It has proved to be more than worth it's cost. We are in the middle of an extended trip, using it as our refrigerator in car and hotel/motel/cabins. It is working flawlessly. Quiet, smooth operating over many continuous hours using the AC converter to plug in 110 outlets when not in the car. You can't get a better deal in our experience.

This box plugs in between your 12v lighter socket and any 12v device. The box monitors the voltage on the line and cuts the device off when the battery goes below 10 volts -- in hopes that there is still enough charge to start your car when you get back. Not a bad idea, i've used one of these with my cooler for some time, also a 12v jumpstarter box with my cooler. This model is a little pricy IMHO To the other reviewer who lighter socket was switched with the ignition key, i'd suggest you see a stereo shop and they can wire you up another socket that is on all the time, or you can find the parts and do it yourself.

I purchased the Wagan Tech fridge as an under desk cooler for my drinks and lunch at work A separate power adapter to use indoors was required but it was a small issue as previous reviews on Amazon mentioned this prior to my decision to buy. It cools to roughly 40 degrees or so and quiet. There is plenty of room for drinks up to 2 liters in size and tons of fruit and yogurt cups for quick snacks during the day. To save the life of the cooler, I unplug it on the weekends. Something also advised in previous reviews. An added bonus to this fridge is that it can be stored either vertically or on its side. This is the one in most truck stops, and therefore thought it was the one to buy...but now that I've bought a 2ND one that has lasted 3-5 months then starts cooling less and then just creates hot air inside and out, I'll never buy another Coleman thermoelectric. The motor starts making noise interrupting sleep and peace of mind, etc. After talking to many seasoned drivers they say they've gone Thur the same thing and have educated themselves and found that the definitive cooler of this type is the "Koolatron" brand. I ordered this unit from Koolatron, via Amazon....it is a factory re-conditioned unit, and appeared flawless coming out of the box. I SPECIFICALLY ordered this for my mother, who lives in an assisted-living apt. that has a TINY 'fridge in Kitchenette. SO, Koolatron to the rescue! She has this set-up in another room, so her kitchenette isn't crowded, and it provides her w/ much needed extra 'fridge capacity. SO FAR, it's been a month and NO PROBLEMS w/ unit....obviously, it's hooked-up to AC converter/adaptor, 24/7. My mother couldn't be more pleased with this addition to her apartment!!
