Modern Dog magazine is especially perfect for those who own small dogs and/or live in urban areas. The magazine is well-written, full of timely articles, and includes ads from unique merchants. I have a Lab and two Boston Terriers so I feel that I am included in their target audience; however, this magazine does include something for everyone who has a dog and wants the best for it, even if it isn't a smaller dog. I like how edgy the magazine is and this is why I think it's more tailored for urban dwellers.

I am nearly finished with this book and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

In the first chapter, I grew somewhat impatient. It seemed a bit overwritten. Mostly though it addressed the question, still alive in scientific circles, of whether or not dogs feel emotions; I think I was more impatient with the question than the writing. As a dog person, I've answered this question to my own satisfaction: of course they do! And indeed, over the course of the book, the author makes a very strong scientific case for the fact that, yes, dogs almost certainly do feel emotions.

What I loved about the book is the author's combination of experience and passion for dogs. Her experience is in helping problem dogs. So much wisdom here. I saw my own dogs from a new perspective. I even ... Read More

If you love dogs, this is a must read. If you don't love dogs, you might by the end of this book. There are so many heartfelt stories. My favorite is the one about Bloodlines. Volunteering with the local animal shelter really makes you appreciate people who believe in the same things that you do.

I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old daughter because she loves to sing and dance. I loaded her favorite music on it and away she went. The earbuds are too big for her ears but the built in speaker is good enough. She keeps it clipped to her waste and takes it everywhere. It uses a AAA battery and I'm pretty impressed with the battery life, haven't replaced it yet.

If you don't mind the size of it I highly recommend it.

The only reason I have given this book 2 stars is that it contains really lovely pictures. Beyond that, I am appalled by the content of the book.

The "trainer" advocates negative reinforcement as a training tool, which is not only an ineffective technique, it is harmful to the dog/owner bond. The proper way to effectively train an animal, whether you're teaching it to sit, stay, or not poop on your bed, is through positive reinforcement and association. "Bopping" an animal's face or shoving its nose/head down into the posture you want it to adopt is completely stupid. It's mean, it's telling the dog that you don't value it enough to refrain from physically striking it, and it doesn't *teach* the dog what you want it to do.

If you're wanting to hit your dog, or believe that ... Read More
