I have only received one issue of Wildbird but am happy that I have subscribed. As a beginning birder, I need all the help that I can get and I am unwilling purchase an experienced birder (do they even sell those at Amazon?). This magazine is well laid out and provides a plethora of fun, and interesting, facts about the birds between its covers. I look forward to the next issue.

This magazine is just ok, so so, I've been getting it about a year now, it usually has something interesting in it,but not everything ,but there are some issues that are very good, and each article is very interesting, so it is sporadic as to how good each issue is.Some excellant, some just ok.

I had a two year subscription to B & B and plan to renew this year again. I love the pictures of the birds best but both are terrific and have a way of uplifting me. The one picture I remember most was one of a grandmother and a very small child watering flowers together. That's why I recomend Birds and Blooms.

I found this magazine more helpfull & interesting than other bird magazines I had in the past. The language is more to the average person than to the very techincal Birder!

The Art of Pishing is an excellent source for learning how to attract birds by mimicking their alert/alarm calls. The humor in the book is a delightful surprise and kept me reading for the next one-liner. At the same time the author clearly explains how to "pish". If that's not enough the CD that comes with the book provides a complete series of lessons on how to make pishing noises. Excellent book!

Birding by Ear is an excellent way to learn to identify birds. It is just going to take me some time to get through all the calls and get them in my poor brain. Not the fault of the cd's - just the fault of my overworked brain.

This book is great for those with short attention spans. :) It's an A to Z format of topics from Acorns to Zinnias. Individual little sections focus on food sources (i.e. acorns, berries, cherries, salvias, suet), common individual backyard birds (bluebirds, cardinals, swallows, etc.), procedures (banding, feeding, first aid), and more. The topics are logical and easy to read and provide lots of little useful tips and tidbits for attracting birds to your yard. The sections on individual birds generally include getting to know them information and a brief summary of how to attract them as well as some brief information on various types and where they are found.
