This magazine is well worth the small price, because it is packed with loads of professional training tools that will help one become a better photographer. In addition, there are great reviews, and cliff hangers, such as well written reviews that leave you waiting for more. I appreciate that, since I am taking my time and learning to wield my camera as a tool. It gives me the opportunity to put the information to the test, to actually learn something. I would recommend this magazine to anyone.

This is a good book for understanding exposure, very detail-oriented. But for me, it's a little bit too technical. If anyone wants to explore into this area of interest, it's the book for you.

Photo Techniques Magazine can help serious photgraphers hone their craft, with extensive tutorials on shooting, printing, Photoshop, scanning, and other topics. It's invaluable for both film and digital photographers.

Film photographers will treasure this publication because it's one of the few that still provides tips on traditional film photography and darkroom work, even with medium format and large format cameras. Where else will you find artciles about toning?

This publication deserves your support. Once it's gone, it's unlikely we'll see anything like it again.

This is a great book for beginners or some one moving from a point and shoot camera to a DSLR. The layout and content are great but if you have some experience either through a photography class high school or other you'll likely not find something you didn't already know.

I purchased a gift subscription online last October, 2007, but it is April 2008, and my aunt and uncle have yet to receive their issue.

I called the DPP subscription department in January, and they said they had no record of my order. Funny, since I had a printed confirmation in my files...Anyway, I went through the ordering process (again) over the telephone, and that was supposed to take care of it.

Fast-forward to April, 2008, and still no issues had been delivered! I called customer service and the rep said that "the late date" (meaning the latest date of arrival) was end of March. I asked when they could expect an issue.. Apparently, the next "late date" is May 2, and I should call back if they don't get the next one.

We reconfirmed the mailing address (correct), ... Read More

If you are interested in Digital Photography, this is the book for you. Scott Kelby did not go into technical details for the photography tips, instead he would just tell you what f-stop or shutter speed for taking certain types of shots. Wonderful book. Highly recommended.

John Shaw shares his photography knowledge and experiences for almost 30 years in this book. This particular book explains the techniques of taking successful pictures consistently over time in a well-structured manner. As a reader, you can understand his points and vision easily, and learn from them quickly. That is extremely important for the purpose of a field guide. You want to know what the lecturer is doing and why he is doing that. Both parts are essential, since simply copying techniques does not make you a great photographer. You need to have both personal vision and craftsmanship to accomplish that.

The book is written based on a 35mm single-lens-reflex camera system. You may think that the photographic knowledge and experiences are no longer valuable in the digital era. That is certainly not the case. ... Read More
