I hope that this is the closest that I ever come to combat in my life. Thank God for the men that put their lives on the line to keep us, and the world, free. Hats off to Spielberg for the realism of the combat. That should be enough for all of us to make a promise to ourselves to personally thank as many vets as we can for serving to keep us free. War is no walk in the park, and this movie comes closest to capturing just how close to hell it really is. This movie teaches a lot about sacrifice, courage, heroism, and emotion. I first got into Band of Brothers (BoB) after the DVD set was released. But I decided I wanted to read the book version to get more of the details (and there is A LOT left out). However, I picked up the audio version so I could listen to in during my commute to and from work. And it REALLY passes the time. Keeps you districted from the horrible traffic but not so much from driving itself. Definitely recommended for that purpose. My only gripe is that this is the abridged version and I still feel like I missed a lot of the details I was looking for. So if you want to get the full effect...read the book. But if you want something more entertaining that talk radio or the same 20 songs over and over again - this is a GREAT fit!!

This is one of the most well done documentaries/dramas I have ever seen. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

One of the best books I have read about the 101st Airborne. Written with passion, clarity and honesty. Dick Winters leadership style is second to none.

Again, another classic movie that will be around for a while. It's touching, real and gives personal insight into the lives of the people portrayed in this based- on true life movie. Excellent war movie and a must-see for people that like war movies.

I had only seen the Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig films before buying this set back in February of this year, so I was interested in seeing all the older Bond films. I really liked almost every single one, which surprised me. Bond movies are just so much fun. The video and audio transfers are remastered beautifully. No need to buy the Blu-ray versions, which I read are a little better, but not worth the extra money if you can get this set at a good price. I paid $145.00 for it, but it was on sale on amazon for $89.99 a few days ago. Keep a look out for price drops on this one. You can call me a true 007 fan, now that I've seen all 22 flicks (I saw Quantum of Solace last weekend and I don't count the Never Say Never Again remake). I bought this for a christmas gift last year and kept it for myself, well actually my little child (dog) will not let me have it back. She has to have it in her bed every night. It is really soft and washes up great. Great product!

I really liked this book. It was written in a style that made me feel like I was sitting and talking in person to Mr. Guarnere and Mr. Heffron. Their exact words and dialect was printed. It did not read like a book written by some armchair soldier or historian. It reminded me of my talks with my uncle, another WWII veteran.

This is a 1962 attempt to be an accurate rendition of D day, based on Cornelius Ryan's book, "The Longest Day", when the allied forces of world war two crossed the English Channel and fought their way up the beaches of France. The whole film is of the events of that day. The list of popular actors playing the parts of the various countries and ethnicities of the time is too long to mention in this review. However Eddy Albert (a method actor) was quite believable and contributed much to the energy of this rendition. Be sure to see Eddy Albert again in uniform in "Teahouse of the August Moon" (1956.)
