This magazine really is perfect. It features real everyday girls, showing that girls really can do anything. Many people say that it isn't appropriate for an 8 or 9 year old, and not all of it is. But, there are several parts that really would be nice for those younger girls. If you were a parent of a younger girl who was interested in DG (Discovery Girls) I would suggest briefly looking through it before you would give it to her. But, once a girl is about 10 or 11 and they're mature enough it is quite perfect. DG mostly covers advice about growing up and all of the things that come along with it. Great magazine for teens! It's got a lot of good advise on what make-up to buy. Also, it has great healthy recipes, easy for teens to make. My daughter made a great veggie wrap. It was delicious.

My granddaughter, age 13, is crazy about a lot of celebrities. This was the perfect gift for her, and I have just renewed the subscription for two more years. The second she knows it has arrived, she is off to her bedroom to devour the whole issue. She then goes back and reads it again. (I am glad it only comes once a month, or I would lose her to her room)

I have the Dec. Issue (awesome!). I has a cute seal poster and how to make these little polar bears and penguins that taste like peppermint. There is also a mealtime quiz and is really fun. I like it a lot.

Grandkids love this magazine and read all the articles. They anxiously await the next issue. Great learning tool.

I was really disappointed with this magazine because it is so full of advertisements and blatant "product placement." It seems to promote "pop culture" and related attitudes rather than truly exploring nature and values. Sadly, aside from Boys Quest (which is too young for my son), I haven't found another magazine aimed at the 10-14 year-old boy. For those who have really open-minded, secure boys, or progressive girls, I recommend New Moon Magazine -- it's an outstanding ad-free pub.

I send this to my nephew every year as a gift and he shares with all of his friends. They really like to see this magazine come. You see, he and his friends are in prison and usually do not have current information on sports. So this is a blessing to all of them!

Ordered Ranger Rick as Christmas 2008 gift. Gift card was delivered but magazines never came. When I inquired, I was told that the order had gone out. It's been a year and no Ranger Rick. Also multiple gift orders for Cricket were never delivered. Don't buy subscriptions here, go to the magazine's own web site. I will never buy here again.
