This was one of the best TV series ever. If you like comedy, politics, and drama, you should check this out. I have the entire series on DVD and I cannot tell you how many times I've watched it. This series has massive replayability so it's worth the buy. It is also not "dumbed down" so they deal with a lot of hot-button topics and you can actually learn a little of how the government actually works and how cutthroat life is like in Washington, D.C. The first few seasons and the last two seasons are the best. There are a good deal of special features and this season was amazing. It has a liberal bent so if you are conservative you may not like this show as much as someone who is more liberal. That said, I still high recommend this series and this first season to anyone and everyone.

I bought this and when I opened it, it has two copies of Season 2 and none of Season 1! I sent it back to Amazon, and to my surprised, it was the same thing-Two copies of Season 2, and None of Season 1. How can this pass QA??? I can only assume that at least two copies of this collection comes with two Season 1 and none of Season 2. This is a great series and someday I'll own it. But that's not today since I'm sick of sending stuff back to Amazon.

I am currently living in Australia and wasn't able to watch this while it was airing. I actually purchased the show on iTunes to watch while on the airplane during a trip back to the states. I really wished I had the meager extras provided on the DVD set because that would give me just that much more. Watching it was very hard, because I knew that every episode that I watched was one less till the end. As with all Aaron Sorkin scripts, the dialog is very fast and dynamic. It is very intelligent and assumes you are as well. The show doesn't feel as polished or as snappy as Westwing but you can easily see it was going there. I understand that the show was very expensive to produce, but was pretty obvious that it was just taking a beat to find its rhythm. I am in the business - I run a Tac Squad. Normally, I stay away from this kind of show telling folks that if I wanted a slice of real life, I would go sit on a street corner. Well... I found my exception. This first season caught me hook, line, and sinker. The dialogue is not far off from what I hear on the streets 6 years and a couple of thousand miles away. The networks, lookouts, interviews, interactions between agencies - all of it is dead on (except for the drinkin, carousing, etc...!!!). If you ever wondered what the guys in the blue jeans and raid jackets really do - this is as close as you can get to a ride-along!! I highly recommend this series - at least the first season - I start season two tomorrow!! All the best, Jay
