I watched this tape through first and thought, I'll never be able to do all those steps. Well, with time and practice, my husband and I are learning to love the tango. The class is broken into three segments, with four moves each. The first two segments can be danced separately or together. The final "movie moves" segment is full of fun stuff to fool around with. Cal and his partner demonstrate the steps separately and together. We've tried the sequences with various tangoes and they work so well! I use this as an option for bonus with my students when we do a basic dance unit. I am not a dancer, but I try to expose my junior high students to some basic steps. If they want to take it further for bonus I allow them to use the videos to learn more dances. They LOVE it!

Although I work out regularly with step and aerobic dance, social dance is a new beast to me. My husband and I watched this video separately and then got together to practice the steps. Cal is very supportive and friendly; he assumes you know nothing about dance and really does teach you the basics, which I would have trouble learning in a class full of other folks. Yes, folks, it's just a start, but it's a great way for rank beginners to get their feet moving. We're purchasing more of the series and recommend this video for those of you who want to dance at the weddings instead of sitting on the sidelines watching.

My wife and I started taking salsa lessons, and we used this video to supplement our lessons with different moves that our instructor did not know/had not taught us. We thought this video was very useful, but I would suggest first taking a few lessons to get confortable with the foot-work before jumping into this video. Overall good.

The instruction is easy to follow and excellently performed. I would recommend this DVD highly.

Although the instruction was clear, this video was very disappointing. The mixed content (i.e. waltz, foxtrot, and swing) does not lend itself well to an instructional tape. A better choice would be to purchase tapes which focus on each dance. Additionally, I've never encountered the basic East Coast Swing step that Cal teaches; it is unique.

I found this type to give a very quick demonstration of various ballroom dances that will do to give you the basic steps which you should practice in our own time to make them "yours".

Donald and Kasia do a great job of teaching fundamental steps to complete beginners. Plus, it is not a bad review for people at the intermediate level. I have 4 of their DVDs (Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing, and Cha Cha). These videos enabled me to go into new classes with some background already. This helps with confidence as a leader, which makes it more fun meeting new partners. Their DVDs are a great value for a beginner.
