this is a fantastic movie. it's campy and fun and very positive. this movie is a well known and much loved classic. it's entertaining for adults and appropriate for kids (if you're familiar with john waters and have some reservations) my preteen daughter showed it to her friends at her birthday party, and all the girls got up to try out the dances and giggled their heads off. how anyone could even think of comparing it to the travolta crap is beyond me, let alone like the other one better. this is the movie that started the whole thing. the broadway play was ripped off from this movie, and that other version is ripped off from the broadway play. this version is better in every respect. better cast, better writing, better costumes, better music. ricki lake is awesome.

I wish Johnny Depp was stuck in the year 1990, because it's depressing to know that he is too old for me.

I really enjoyed watching this. The quirky characters, and love story make it a sweet movie. Well worth watching.

Leonardo Dicaprio's performance as an autistic teenager was absolutely superb. Johnny Depp's performance as a quiet, depressed and angst-ridden older brother was good as well, although he's more fun to look at than anything.:) The movie is very moving, and unlike anything I've seen. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to people of all ages.

I saw this wonderful movie in 1990 when it first came out. I was already a Tim Burton fan of sorts, but this made me a Burton fanatic. I saw it first with my wife, and I remember thinking at the very beginning, when Danny Elfman's haunting, beautiful score was only a few notes old, that I was going to love this film. And I did. It just hit me right in the heart, in the most vulnerable, deepest part of my soul. I know that sounds pretentious, but it's the best I can do with my limited writing ability. My sister and I love Halloween, and this movie is a perfect one to watch to get in the appropriate spirit. In addition to fine acting, the special effects and artistic rendition of Sleepy Hollow is classic Tim Burton. Fabulous!

Just so-so film overall..... I think the acting was fine in this movie, the cinematography great and the essence of the story was a good one.... However, something was lacking/missing that left me wanting more from this film. I just felt that more depth could have been added to the main character and her overall early beginnings with her adoptive family.... Plus more on how she went about finding her father in America. The ending of this movie left one wanting to know more answers.... Sure Susie was eventually reunited with her biological father, but was it a happily ever after one?? Knowing more about what her biological father had been up to while in America with a bit more detail, would have been great too. Did Cate Blanchett's character make it big in Hollywood? The casting was spot on. Mercurial Johnny Depp can be anyone, I believe he IS Don Juan De Marco. Even at 300# plus, Brando still has it, Dunaway is and will always be a beautiful woman, and the combination obviously worked. The visit of Don Juans mother from Mexico throws a spanner in the Grandmas very believeable story. In the end, does it really matter what IS, when you can have what you want just by looking with different eyes. The music by Michael Kamen is superb! I have ordered the sound track. If you don't want to get up and dance (with your dog, if necessary)you just have no fantasy or romance in your soul. It is a pity that this movie is relatively unknown.Everyone I have shown it to has been touched. I'm just glad it's available.

It's creepy in parts but it's also beautiful and funny too. I think it's one of the most honest Westerns ever made.
