Just Who Will You Be?: Big Question. Little Book. Answer Within. (ROUGHCUT)

I gave this book as a gift to a middle-aged woman who was seeking a new self. She loved it! Easy reading, strong messages which she could relate to herself and to her teenage daughters. Offering hope and inspiration to those with questions about who they are, this book is worth the short time it takes to read and the longer time it takes to live. Once again, thanks to Maria Shriver.

This book has helped build my faith, not only in God, but also God in us as Christians. These families have allowed us to come along side them on this journey. They are both so "real", and yet faithful.

I admire Barbara Walters as an interviewer tremendously. I was interested in learning more about this woman who preceded my generation and broke the way for females in journalism. While the book is easy to read and is chockful of names, dates, and anecdotes, I found it too tedious to wade through and quit after 200 pages.

I think if I were from the same age group, the book might be more appealing. But as it was, I had little interest in many of the people and incidents she described.

Maybe I will try this again some day, but I doubt it. I'll just wait for the E! Behind the Scenes version. ;)

This book certainly adds to my knowledge and understanding of colonial history. Cokie Roberts has added a useful dimension by concentrating on the women married to our early presidents and showing us, through the language of their letters that they were as courageous, politically astute, willing to sacrifice, and devoted to promoting the strength of our new nation as their husbands. I'm thinking of Dolley Madison and Louisa Adams (married to John Quincy) here.Portraits of other women are valuable, also, such as the young woman pioneer who literally walked over the mountains in the early 1800s to a new home in the Midwest.

My rating is not based on the book itself but the title.
Im married and have 3 daughters, so I ask myself now what? The girls are almost grown 1 is out of my living arrangement and doing well with life, 1 daughter started college a couple of months ago and the baby daughter is in the 10th grade of high school. So I am asking myself over and over now what? Due to some health issues, Im not getting to do much of anything with my life. Music is about it. I listen to music most of the 24 hours in a day. I battle a killer disease DEPRESSION and fight to live a couple days a month. Most of it is about my past and what could I have done to change it to what I have become today. My past bothers me, How do you forget your past to focuss on the future thats what Im needing to do but dont know how. Depression affects ... Read More

Heard SOMEWHERE IN HEAVEN: THE REMARKABLE LOVE
STORY OF DANA AND CHRISTOPHER REEVE by Christopher
Andersen.

Christopher Reeve, at one time, had it all . . . he was the star
of four Superman movies and though his career had
gone through some ups and downs, he was still a working
actor who had both a loving wife and son . . . then in 1995, an
equestrian accident paralyzed him from the neck down--making
him "president of a club I never wanted to join."

That is where his tale became even more interesting . . . his courage
in fighting his battle inspired the nation until his unexpected death
in 2004.

Dana Reeve, his wife, stood by his side until the end . . . she then
died, less than two years later, from lung cancer . . . ... Read More

By now, most everyone who wishes to read this book knows many of the details. But to me, there are two extraordinary things that have become obvious about Dame Julie. First, she writes this book much like she speaks. It's as if she were reading it to me in her own special style. Refined, and with a well developed grasp of the English language. And yet, she has had virtually little, if any, formal education. Her mother put a halt to her tutoring by the age of 14, and she may have received an education that is barely the equivalent of junior high school! How did she manage that? Secondly, after reading about the performances for The Boy Friend, My Fair Lady, Cinderella, and Camelot, it is clear she had a work ethic that approached Herculean stature. Wow!! She has openly admitted that she wondered how she managed ... Read More
