Fareed Zakaria has really given a great deal of thought to globalization and its larger meaning, and it is obvious for almost all to see. His thoughts on how the U.S., India, China, and Russia should interact are spot on. His use of statistics is pretty much a welcomed blessing because it helps remove many of the doubts that critics can present upon hearing his core idea. It flies starkly in the face of the notion that U.S. power is diminishing due to globalization. This nation according to Zakaria is as strong/relevant as it ever been, meaning that we ultimately decide what our nation's fate will be. A must read for those of us that are not buying the Lou Dobbs, O' Reilly xenophobic non-sense!!

Of many books I have read on the misdeeds and mistakes of the Bush Administration in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the War on Terror generally, this is the best. Its impact sinks in page after page, horrific detail after horrific detail.

Every page of this book was fascinating. All my previous knowledge of WWII was limited to the European arena. This book was a complete education on the Japan side of the war. I do a lot of business in Japan. With this book, I was able to gain insights into the Japanese perception of victory and honor which might influence their business behavior as well. This was a great book.

This is an excellent overview of the current world situation and look at what is developing. Political forecasters take note, this is one-stop shopping.

Author does a good job juggling a mountain of information and making a coherent whole out of the disparate world at large.

Bob Woodward is incredible, in that he somehow is able to get the key players in one of the worst political disasters since Watergate to open up to him, and lay their faults out there for all to see.

The actions of the Bush administration are so hard to fathom , that were it not for Mr. Woodward's first person account, we would not believe it was possible, in this day and age.

Woodward's style, as shown in his previous works, makes this book a page turner, with all the details to put the reader right there, and able to appreciate all the nuances that went into the decision making processes of the war obsessed Bush administration, warts and all.

Don't be mistaken, this is not a novella, nor is it a history book. It is an unabashed detailed account of the running of a war that will go down in history ... Read More

This book is not an attempt to revise history, but rather to set the record straight. It was written by an author who was in a unique position to observe the Pentagon decision making process leading to the war in Iraq. Feith's attention to a detailed timeline and the facts as then known at the time in question, and his extensive documentation references are most impressive. I predict this will become recognized as a historically important work. Those who believe in "Cowboy Bush" and "Bush Lied" will not like this book. Many strategic and tactical mistakes are documented, and should be lessons learned. The war on terrorism seems destined to go on for a long time, and knowledge about it's beginnings is important.

The other reviews already spell out just what makes this such a brilliant book, but I thought it worth adding that as the world looks on waiting for the election November that this book provides a pre-history to the present moment in the same eway, though much more compellingly, that Tom Frank's Kansas book did 4 years ago. Time will tell if we're going to get of Nixonland, but the way we got there is mapped out clearly here.

If you really want to know what the Arab people dream off, then this book is for you. This book finally made me understand the Middle East.

The author discusses Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Iran, but omits countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. We all have heard of Dubai, yet so little is known about it politically. Do the people support their ruler? I would really have loved to read what the author has to say about Dubai (whom many are calling the Hong Kong of the middle East).

The US gives a lot of money to Egypt annually, yet a dictator rules Egypt. President Mubarak rules Egypt as if he were a king. According to the author, he is now preparing his son to succeed him. Journalists are routinely imprisoned, and any opposition leader is immediately imprisoned. Why does the US continue giving money to such a government? ... Read More
