In the spring of my junior year I took the SAT for the first time-- I got a 730 CR 700 W 700 M, but I still wanted to do better. I read all the reviews for this book and it seemed to help many people, so I bought the book about two months before the October SAT. I studied off and on during that time, and I finished the math and reading sections but I only had time to skim the writing section. When I got my scores back I was a little shocked. I had spent most of my time studying the math section and not so much on the reading, but I ended up getting an 800 CR and a 670 M (30 points below my spring score). I got a 670 Writing (an 8 on the essay which was the same as the spring, but a 690 on the grammar multiple choice subscore which was 40 points below my spring score). I wasn't too concerned ... The Official Study Guide for all SAT Subject Tests isn't a study guide at all, as is the case with most if not all of College Board's study guide publications. This book includes only one previously administered test per subject area, which isn't adequate enough to determine the knowledge you have mastered in the subject. The exams themselves must be at least several years old, and the conversion charts reflect the performance of past years; test writers change over time as well as student competitiveness. The part that probably ticks people off the most is that NO answer explanation is included. i wouldn't have thought this book would do me such good. It explained everything in details and gave extremely helpful tips for taking the SAT. i just took it today and it seemed very easy from the learning process of this book. Very thorough in explaining. It is definitely a must have if you're about to take the SAT.

I used this book along with the Real ACT book, the McGraw Hill 10 Practice Tests, and Sparknotes Guide to the ACT. I found that this books was one of the more helpful ones. The strategies given are insignificant, as it is a conflict of interest. This book's value is attributed only by the 3 practice tests. The three practice tests are exactly the same as you would see them during test day. The answer sheet is exactly the same, and there are also blanks for you to add your personal information as you would during test day. I bought this book for my daughter to prep for the PSAT and Act and she said of all the study materials she had, this was the best book ever! It not only explained the answers throughly but it was challanging and had materials that were very much related to these tests.

I tried to use this but the book was super thick and I just couldn't get into it, I used an online interactive study guide instead and I scored a 26 on my ACT. My sister did well with this book, the only difference between us is I have ADHD and she doesnt.

After taking the SAT once, I decided I needed to prepare better for the second time around. This book raised my score by over 100 points. While it doesn't necessarily provide study material, it provides strategies to go about taking standardized tests particularly the SAT's. This book changed my life and I would suggest it as a supplement to other SAT prep books for someone looking to drastically raise their score.

I used this book along with myriad other SAT books, including; Barrons SAT prep, Barron's SAT 2400, The Sparknotes Guide the Real SAT. I found that this book was one of the more helpful ones. I was skeptical at first to buy this book, as the SAT content can get distorted when it isn't written by the actual SAT writers. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the practice tests in the book greatly resemble the real SAT tests. The answer explanations were very terse, sometimes you wouldn't be able to understand why you got the wrong answer. But that is not the case with all the answer explanations. In order to significantly improve your score, taking practice SAT tests greatly helps. Therefore, this is one of the best resources to use to improve your SAT score.
