This is a great book for beginners or some one moving from a point and shoot camera to a DSLR. The layout and content are great but if you have some experience either through a photography class high school or other you'll likely not find something you didn't already know.

If you are interested in Digital Photography, this is the book for you. Scott Kelby did not go into technical details for the photography tips, instead he would just tell you what f-stop or shutter speed for taking certain types of shots. Wonderful book. Highly recommended.

I bought this book to help me practice setting the exposure manually. It has beautiful and inspiring images that help motivate.

The book is very good and does and excellent job of explaining what it is about. Excellent shopping experience and will use Amazon again.

I've been shooting film for many years, but I recently got my first digital camera. While some things/skills transferred easily, I found the choices and technology confusing or disorienting. I bought this book based upon reviews, and it has been quite helpful. It was a bit disconcerting to find that my camera, Cannon's PowerShot A650IS, didn't fit well into the three basic types reviewed, but that was not a deal breaker. This book, along with lots of practice, has helped me adjust to digital, and now I'm not sure I'd ever go back to film. I'd recommend Jim Miotke's book to anyone switching to digital or to those who want to sharpen their skills and get better pictures. It is well illustrated and designed, and it sits next to my computer as a ready reference.

This is a great book...But if you already have Freeman's "the image" you might expect more from this one.

I purchased this book on 10th Nov 08. Before buying this book I also purchased a guide for Canon Rebel XTI by David D. Busch. Since I have two books from different authors, I can compare it better. I feel this book is much better and meets my expectations. I gone through varous books but no books tells you what do you mean by AV, TV etc modes, when users should use that? and what is the effects of using that. This is best book and will recommned to others.

This particular book explains the techniques of taking successful pictures consistently over time in a well-structured manner. As a reader, you can understand his points and vision easily, and learn from them quickly. That is extremely important for the purpose of a field guide. You want to know what the lecturer is doing and why he is doing that. Both parts are essential, since simply copying techniques does not make you a great photographer.
