Yes, I get it, you've stayed in all the five-star, treats-you-like-a-Royalty, $400-per-night Grand Hotel suites all throughout the World, and you liked their banquet dinners with their fancy hors d'oveurs while enoying the view of their pretty, "sprawling gardens". You also should have mentioned your 24k-golden toilets and those diamond-embedded pillows you rested your head upon after a tiresome day of the luxurious tours. This one is favorite travel book. Being an amateur photographer, I like to drive along the scenic drives, enjoy the spectacular views and capture them in my camera. This book will provide you: - The scenic drives and the key places on the route. - Tell the facts & specialties of the places. - What time of year is good to go. - Awesome pictures of the drives to motivate you to go there. - Contact numbers and information websites. - Information about side-trips. I will recommend to map out your route on Google Maps and do some search online for the side-trips before leaving. Some side-trips are not worth missing, so information-at-hand will help you to get there, w/o stopping anywhere to get local directions.

Great insight into what is on the back roads in the US. We are from Australia and planning a road trip in the South and it has been incredibly useful for helping us see the "real" America. We have done all the big cities so now we want to hear music and talk to people who are "America". This book will let us do that.

We went on a 2 week road trip across the country and used this book to look up national parks in the areas we were traveling to. It was fantastic! It has great graphics and overviews of hiking trails and what there is to do in the parks. It also includes phone numbers of campsites and hotels within the park (which comes in very useful when you are going to a lot of parks!). It was a great asset to our trip and we would recommend it to anyone who plans to visit national parks! However - while it includes amazing graphics (which the official parks guide does not), it does not include national monuments like the offical parks guide does.

In the past I have often taken a spiral notebook on trips with the intention of keeping a daily journal, but intentions don't always translate into reality. This sturdy, easy-to-carry journal contains plenty of space for writing, but, more importantly, is a great motivator for actually keeping that journal. After all, I paid for this fancy book and should certainly fill it with insightful observations and experiences! The basic information it provides (conversions, useful phrases, etc.) also encourage keeping it handy. I checked this book out of the library but we liked it so much, I am going to buy my own copy. Amazingly, my kids like to flip the book open for fun and then fantasize about going to the place they find! Better than watching Hannah Montana, that's for sure. We have a lot of places to visit now, though.
