I loved reading about Ellen, Andy and Leo! This was a great love story about a woman's past and present colliding together and what she does about it. I also loved Suzanne and even Margot, though I hate her friend Ginny. What a b... Also, you guys have to try out the Kindle if you haven't already! So cool.

This is by far one of the worst chic-lit books I've read. I loved Devil Wears Prada, I even liked her second book, but this?? There is no way this book would be published without the first two. Bleeh!

In Her Shoes was the first book I read by Jennifer Weiner so I thought I would read another book authored by Weiner. Good in Bed's character was a whinner and not very interesting. Didn't see the humor in any of the story and the book was wordy. Disappointing that this wasn't as good as In Her Shoes.

As a Jodi Picoult fan, I found this novel interesting and easy to read. Picoult writes about a variety of difficult and controversial subjects and this book is no exception. Shay Bourne, a convicted murderer with a scheduled execution, wants to donate his heart to the dying 11 year old sister of one of his victims. The novel is narrated in turn by a fellow death row prisoner, a priest who counsels Shay, Shay's attorney, and the mother of Shay's victim. They all view Shay in a different light and as they each tell their story, the novel progresses to the execution date. Will the family accept Shay's heart? Will Shay's attorney win a landmark ruling to allow a change in method of execution? What about the "miracles" that have started to occur on Death Row? Part of my problem (and rating) of this book probably has to do with my expectations of it. Having read, and loved, all of Marian's previous books I was expecting more of the delightful entertaining chick-lit style, and it was certainly marketed that way. Whilst all of Marian's previous books have dealt with some pretty heavy topics (addiction, death etc.) they all managed to do it in a thought provoking way that didn't descend to horribly dark and disturbing. Not so with A Charming Man. This is a graphic and disturbing book detailing rape, as well as sexual, physical and emotional abuse. Not only that, and maybe this is part of trying to have four main female characters but, with the exception of Marnie and the female politician, all of the female characters felt two dimensional, contrived, weak ... This was not her best work. It WAS interesting to read a short story that was the basis of her book "Good in Bed," but in this collection of short stories all of the heroines melded together as one heroine template repeated over and over with different names. Most were Jewish, involved in writing, and somewhere on the 'unslim' side. The wit they employed in their stories was sharp, sarcastic, and downright funny, though. If the author had been as flexible in introducing unique characteristics to her 'gals' as she was their mates the collection of stories would have been much richer and more memorable.

I thought this book was great. It made me laugh, and I enjoyed the author's humorous take on weight issues (we all have them after all, no matter what your size). Lots of clever antecdotes about her many issues, and lots of honest moments. Most importantly, it made me realize that I'm not the only loser over 35 who tivos The Real World.

I bought this book to read on a plane, and I only finished it because I had nothing better to do. The characters are boring and annoying, repeating themselves over and over again. It's so exasperating! This is the first book by Jane Green that I've read, so I don't know about the rest, but I would definitively recommend avoiding it!
