I'm a Reacher fan, but this is a reach too far. There's supposed to be some military checkpoint on a public highway that just gets ignored, and some town where everyone knows what's going on but word never gets out...
Ignore for a second the anti-Iraq propaganda. The scale is simply too large to be believable. This is a comic book, not a thriller. Two stars is is probably generous, but I like the hero and the action.

Have read all Michael Connelly's books and was really looking forward to this, his latest, featuring Harry Bosch. It is only at Chapter 32 - half way through- that Harry starts to appear on a regular basis. Up to this, he was only mentioned enough to let the reader know he was there somewhere in the distant background. Come on Michael, Harry is the STAR and should not be relegated to a bit-part. Perhaps things will improve in the last half - I hope so.

Sandford has his hero, Lucas Davenport, currently of the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, musing early that life is just chaotic, happenings that save, or take, lives. Weather, his wife and a medical doctor, believes in cause-and-effect. After a bloodily murderous story, Davenport convincingly restates his position, but in fact Sandford, the author, belies it by crafting a scintillating book that blinds one to the incredibly finely ordered plot lines.
This is a jewel of a book. It contains so artfully crafted a plot and set of characters you only see all the facets after the last chapter, looking back in awe at the smooth and so deceptive flow of words. There are Goths, domestics, big and little drug dealers, snitches, farmers, little old ladies, b---hy ladies, stage and sex actors, ghosts, webmasters, ... Read More

This is one of the best books I have read this year!
The suspense and thrill ride Deaver provides is like none other.
The plot is fascinating and informative. The characters well developed, interesting and intriguing. This is the 8th Rhyme and Sachs novel Deaver has written and everything: plot, characters and writing are as fresh as ever.
Fantastic Read! Enjoy!

Daniel Silva has become my favorite author in the thriller genera, and MOSCOW RULES is another winner.

Silva tosses Gabriel Allon into the boiling caldron of current world events--this time Putin's Russia. Allon must counter a sinister al-Qaeda plot to kill thousands of Westerners. but first, al-Qaeda must obtain a quantity of SA-18 missiles. The source of the shoulder launched Russian anti-aircraft missiles is Ivan Kharkov, a Russian oligarch and world class arms merchant.

Allon is in an Italian villa, happily restoring a masterpiece for the Vatican, when a building crisis causes his superior to recall him to help solve the murder of a Russian journalists. Silvia, takes his protagonists into the decadent capital of the new Russia, Moscow, and its wantabe Tsar, Putin.

MOSCOW RULES is a complex ... Read More

This book starts with an emotional bang. Parents Mike and Tia Baye are very concerned about the behaviour of their son Adam. They have tried to reach out to him but he is acting out, runs away for days and they are at their wits end. Also playing a factor is the fact that his best friend recently committed suicide. Mike and Tia decide after much deliberation to put a spy program on Adam's computer so they can monitor his actions. All characters here are written very realistically and emotions and actions totally ring true.

We get to see inside the lives of many families - the Bayes, the family whose son committed suicide and a single father raising a daughter. All this family emotion provides suspenseful heartfelt action enough to carry the book. It expertly addresses many issues families must face in day to day life. ... Read More

Heat Lightning (Virgil Flowers)
A good mystery with a lot of different angles but the main character, Virgil Flowers, just lacks something. He just seems like such a loser. Certainly not as polished and finesse as his boss.

A Vietnam era connection for the murders and going back to examine those times was interesting. It does move at a good pace. A couple of surprises along the way.

I read a lot of books because I get in to the characters, like some people do with TV, but all of Sandford's books are good murder mysteries. They are worth reading for that alone.

I do hope we get Lucas Davenport back though.

I know a lot of people gave Fearless Fourteen a bad review, but I thought it was just great! Another fun installment in the life of Stephanie Plum and her crazy friends. I love all of the Plum series and am currently in the process of reading the series again. I can't wait until June for #15...luckily I'll get my Evanovich fix in January with the arrival of Plum Spooky.

As far as thrillers go this was very good. The characters were deep and enthralling, keeping your interest all the way through. There was enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, and plenty of action. If you enjoy Lee Child`s Jack Reacher books then this will please you. I`m a series fan and enjoy Child and Michael Connelly books immensely, if you like that kind of thriller read the `Soft Target` books by Conrad Jones. They are unputdownable!! Back to the review, ten out of ten.
