I can always count on an Emily Giffin book to not only be a great read but to also make me think. She writes amazing, imperfect characters that seem utterly real, who act like people do in real life and always express emotions that I can believe. I really enjoyed reading about Ellen, Leo, Andy, Suzanne, Margot and the gang as they deal with a single relationship in the past that threatens all of them. I loved watch their family fall apart, then rally together as Ellen is forced to make the choice of her life. Great drama and another fun, intelligent book from Giffin. Can't wait until the next one!

I am surprised to see that many Good In Bed readers didn't LOVE this book. Is it because of the end? I guess I am not a happily ever after person. To me, Good in Bed is all about Mothers and Daughters and the JOY (no pun intended) that comes from that bond....even though it's a small part of the GIB story-- it's a HUGE part of Certain Girls, and furthered the relationship that I wanted to see more of.

LOVED IT. YAY CANNIE!!!!

I truly looked forward to this, having thoroughly enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada. This was incredibly weak. I think that it had the makings of a decent story, but every single story line needed to be fleshed out, and all of the parts that were skipped from chapter to chapter should have been included. She must have been under pressure to finish it, because this could not hold a candle to her previous work.

I loved this book. I wasn't surprised, as I am a huge Jane Green fan, and this book did not disappoint. The book was so richly detailed that you feel like you're right there on Nantucket! Bottom line, if you're looking for a deep, philosophical read, this ain't it, but if you want something fun and engrossing, pick up this book!

While attempting to read this book, I could not stop my gag reflex from releasing vomit into my throat. I have never in my life tried to read such a dreadful, plotless piece of tripe before. I slightly enjoyed Can You Keep a Secret? and was looking for another light read. This was so light it floated away on a sea of disgust. The book is 99% dialogue, i.e. there is no plot. The main character is heinously insipid. I refused to donate this book to be sold as used to prevent someone else from having to waste their time with this horrid book.

If you've read earlier reviews, you know the storyline: June's first husband died in a car accident leaving her with a small daughter. The police officer who brought the bad news becomes the knight on the white steed, wooing and winning her and her daughter's affections. Then, just as in old fairy tales, when June is married to the policeman, pregnant and renovating their home, the idyll is disrupted by the evil one, who appears in the guise of a young carpenter. Picoult has carved out a literary niche by her use of simple prose to present themes that disturb and challenge the reader. Few writers are as adept at telling such a story without setting up a complex plot with ten-syllable words. In this book, the naturally spoken conversations among the characters contrast with great effect to the sublime subjects ... Read More

This was by far the funniest book I have ever read. I was laughing out loud throughout the whole book. I had read Kinsella's shopaholic series and decided to try her other books. I read this book in on sitting. I can't wait to finishing reading her other books.

This is my least favorite of all of Sophie Kinsella's books. It is VERY predictable, and as other reviewers have noted, leaves a lot of loose ends, like what happened to the Geigers? The author made it sound like there was something going on with them earlier, but that just dissolves.

Also, this is the first male love interest out of all of Kinsella's books that I couldn't stand! I was surprised. I couldn't even picture what he looked like in my head, and actually didn't want them to end up together.

It was also lacking in humor. I'd recommend it if you're a big fan of Kinsella's, but if not, don't bother picking it up.

I love Marion Keyes, but I cannot get past the first chapter! How in the world is anyone expected to like some girl that talks or even thinks in this way?? It's like reading someone that is speaking in baby talk. I cannot like the character, so how can I like the book? I'm going to keep reading, simply because my sister said it is worth it, but it's hard to keep reading with all it's doing is annoying the life out of you. PLEASE never write in this style again. It's painful to read this chopped and screwed verbage. I am so disappointed in this book. I just cannot say how much Lola annoys me. I promise, it's like listening to a 3 year old. I'm truly hoping it gets better, but the book is horrible so far.

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan is a hilarious second take on the life and times of Becky Bloomwood -- my favorite out-of-control shopper who is short on cash but ready with a long list of justifications for every purchase. The madder the spending, the grander the excuse. I found myself laughing out loud and reading parts of the story to friends, who readily identified with the compulsive behavior which easily satirized our own weaknesses!

If you've read Becky Bloomwood's first story, Confessions of a Shopaholic, you'll be delighted to discover that Sophie Kinsella is not merely repeating what you've read before, but building on her character's exploits to create new, hilarious situations worthy of Lucille Ball at her best. Luke's discovery of Becky's outrageous stash of purchases in the hotel closet is both funny and sad, ... Read More
