I have not read one of Janets books that let me down.And I have ready most of them. The Plum Series was awesome. I wish they could continue or do another series maybe CSI version like the bounty hunter.

I know a lot of people gave Fearless Fourteen a bad review, but I thought it was just great! Another fun installment in the life of Stephanie Plum and her crazy friends. I love all of the Plum series and am currently in the process of reading the series again. I can't wait until June for #15...luckily I'll get my Evanovich fix in January with the arrival of Plum Spooky.

I looked for and found Janet's previous work before the Stephanie Plum series - and yes they are a good read and it has helped me to understand the origins of the Plum series. Janet is an excellent writer and from her early days at writing she manages to capture you into the story very early on. Thanksgiving is the first of the "old stories" so to speak that I had the chance to read. It is a light-hearted short story about jumping into the unknown and realising it is not too bad after all. Thanksgivig is a book abut a young lady who finds love in the form of a child only to realize that the man who she is helping look after the child with is ultimatly the one she wants and needs in her life. Don't expect the Janet Evanovich of the Stephanie Plum series. Obviously Stephanie is her greatest creation, but her other books including this one are fun and easy to read, especially to listen to on a long car ride.

"Because I'm a Mooooooooom!"... You know, even though I'm not a child lover, I can usually tolerate them in books and movies. But this one, with the attitude of Lizabeth throughout the book and the ramming down your throat of the responsibilities of motherhood, was so annoying I almost didn't finish it. If it hadn't been so short and so quick to read, I probably wouldn't have. I certainly couldn't identify with Lizabeth, and didn't even like her. The plot was sad, even for a romance novel. There was nothing interesting about the book at all. I love Stephanie Plum with all my heart, but that's really the only thing Evanovich has done well.

This has a "Harlequin Romance" vibe that would normally send me screaming in the other direction, but given that it's Janet Evanovich, I was intrigued. I read this in a different way than others might, I think. This was a chance to see Evanovich's writing style in its infancy, before she became the publishing phenomenon that she is today, with the fantastically popular Stephanie Plum novels. The humor is there, but a bit more rough, and the romance is more pronounced than it has since become. Stephanie (see, even that started early on) is in the difficult position of having to be a ship's cook for Ivan, who runs a old-fashioned cruise. I have just read the Stephanie Plum series back-to-back, enjoying them thoroughly, until I started reading Thirteen. I could not believe the same writer wrote this book. Everything from the characters to the plot felt off. It wasn't terrible, it was just so-so. Fourteen WAS terrible, so I have my fingers crossed that Fifteen will pick things back up.
