Video Games : Europa Universalis III
This is not a game for the casual game-playing public. If you think Civ4 is complex and challenging, EU3 is not for you. On the other hand, if you are a serious armchair general/dictator looking for a grand strategy platform, this is the best and latest from the studio that also produced the excellent Heart of Iron series.

As can be expected for a game of this genre, the learning curve is steep and the time required is long. The gameplay, however, is deep, broad and long-lasting, so to each his own.

Video Games : SpongeBob SquarePants: Diner Dash
Bought Spongebob Squarepants: Diner Dash for my granddaughter and find myself enjoying the game as well. It makes you prioritize customers and service or else you lose points. Helps my granddaughter with remembering who was first, what service needs to be done at which table before the customer gets angry. Lots of fun for any age.

I got this game for my daughter, who loves animals. She set right to work training animals and keeps telling me with joy how she's learned to do something new on the game. Until I read the reviews on this site, I didn't know there were criticisms about the lack of instructions. Haven't played the game myself, but I was surprised, because my daughter has a really low frustration level. She is usually very vocal and angry when something frustrates her. But I have heard nothing but excitement from her about playing this game. She recommends it to her friends. And she keeps asking me to buy her the Pet Vet game, as well.

Not much to recommend this game on other than the somewhat humorous and senseless violence.

Pros: Funny carnage, you get to kill obnoxious stereotypes of pretty much every ethnic group in suitably graphic and cartoonish ways. Somewhat interesting punk rock soundtrack that you can thankfully turn off after you've heard the song repeat for the Nth time.

Cons: Gameplay is repetitive and buggy as hell. Some doors won't open, I had to cheat to get through some of the levels.

Level design in nonexistent with hardly any thought to playability (this gets worse as the game progresses, indicating they ran up against a deadline). There are numerous dead ends with nothing there, requiring backtracking. Long stretches with nothing going on.

This game seems ... Read More
