The CD worked at first, but as you got into higher levels of the game, the sound did not work. The sound did not work when you were at a level that you needed to click on the characters and have them answer your questions.

This is an arcade game for youngsters, which means there is really no educational value -- just repetitive action: jumping, throwing and some short term planning about where to jump and when to throw. IMHO, kids will get to these kind of games soon enough. I'm not in a rush to introduce mindless arcade-style entertainment. That said, the game is stable and installs easily.

I think that this is a great software. I found the information very useful for both the SAT and ACT. The SAT tips are very useful. However, I didn't agreed with several tips on the ACT prep software. I was not comfortable taking the practice tests on the computer. On reading passages, it is timed but you need to scroll down. This takes some times. Also, the practice tests are somewhat too easy. I would recommend you use the book "Getting into the ACT" and/or "Ten real SATs" in addition to this. In these two books, retired tests are used. The software itself is great for learning the content and strategies for the tests, but the practice tests are not as good as the books I mentioned.

I have read all the negative reviews and I feel compelled to add my sucess story. I first bought this program for my oldest daughter (class of 2000). We decided to give this a try before spending money on a "live class" program. She had taken the SATs once and did not score as well as she wanted. She was an IB student with little time to "learn" how to score well on a test. She tried this software, not adhering faithfully to all the instructions, but completing most of it. She took the SAT at the end of her junior year. Her scores increased by a whooping 200 points! I recommended it to my sister and her son increased his scores by 150 points.
