1) Broderbund appears to use consistently cheap disks: there appear to be visible defects on the surface. My cd-rom drive (which is finicky) does not like their disks. 2) My eight-year old did not find the game challenging. 3) The software did not interact well with other hardware and software on my system. CleanSweep thinks that the software is installing when trying to play the game; after changing my cd-rom drive, this program no longer starts up on my computer.

This is another solid entry in the ClueFinders line. I've used these titles with 3 kids so far, and we all love them. They strike a great balance - making the kids practice the skills they're learning in school, but in a fun way that they look forward to. The format is really well thought-out. The mystery-adventure storyline draws the kids forward, the animation is good, and there are occasional extra "flourishes" (songs, jokes). The ancillary features (hints, auto-leveling) work well.

This is a very professional tool to improve your languaje skills. I love to use the voice recognition feature and the accent assesment. It really helps you to speak clearly. Lessons are very well designed and it covers everything: pronunciation, grammar, reading, listening, vocavulary etc.. It's an excelent tool :)

My four-year-old daughter loves the Powerpuff Girls but so far it has just been for entertainment purposes. I assumed this would just teach hand-eye coordination but I was wrong. This has plenty of action and hand-eye coordination fun, and then it also teaches north, south, east, west with map navigation and several other academic chunks as well. She is not yet finished playing it after about three hours so far and she is learning new material. It really teaches her--leaving me time to read a book without too many interruptions.
