I recently bought this game for my 10 yr. old son. I remember first playing this game when I was about his same age. This game has greatly improved, information wise over the version I remember. There are maps built in and an atlas. All the info they need is contained in the game. This makes looking up the clues much more fun! My son has a lot of fun learning about the states, while chasing crooks. We use this weekly, as his homeschool US Geography lesso, and when he's done solving his 2 cases, he often wants to keep playing in the explore mode. This game is chock full of information, maps, and fun animations, while at the same time being fun, and giving the child a sense of accomplishment as the go up in rank. I bought this for a birthday a few weeks ahead of time. Got the message from the seller that it was on its way and never received it. I emailed them and they later said they overlooked the email. Fine but when I finally got the disc a month later (of course the second came two days after that) it didn't work. Neither did the second. In all the mix up Amazon ended up crediting me before the discs came (I paid $5 with shipping), so no harm done. But it just so happens that I found another at a thrift store (again before the two others came) and it didn't work either(not because of scratches). Must be a whole lot of them out there that got recorded wrong.

This game is fun but not very user friendly. You can't exit one part of the game to go to another part very easily. Some games a bit difficult for the age and directions are not explained very well.

I love history all together and even though I'm passed the recommended age for playing, I still play it anyway and love learning new things. I also have a younger sister who is mentally handicapped and doesn't understand a lot of concepts in the game (like the Yuri Gagarin level) but the "good guides" in the game explain it to her in simple ways she understands so it makes the game fun for her to play too.
