My ADHD son has always had a hard time with math concepts. For some reason, these fast paced and fun videos make math "click" in his brain. They might not work well for someone with a "normal" functioning brain and very well might make them nervous and flustered. It would be really great if they would make two versions of these videos...one fast, one slower. I will be buying them all before wer're said and done.

Admittedly, this is not the most entertaining movie out there, but if you're watching a DVD called "Learn Biology", entertainment is not primarily what you're after, right? I watched this movie as the base of my studying to pass a Biology placement test for my return to college. I was not looking for entertainment...I was looking for a video that would CRAM a semester's worth of general biology into my head in two weeks. And that it did! I passed the placement test with apparently the highest score they've seen in a long time and am now heading to Anatomy & Physiology next semester. There are no actual experiments in these DVDs, however, they deserve some credit for this work. I used and still use the DVDs with my 8 year old son. I have almost every title of Standard Deviants that my son learns from since he was 4. They are not all created equally, I must say. I conduct my own experiments to complement these Physics DVD. I also pause the DVD as necessary to go into depth, or explain with more details. Some people commented that the content is very simple, no real physics, well, it works fine for my second grader. He started watching them over a year ago. And we continually reuse them as he understanding of the concepts increases. However, no quantum physics info...

If you have trouble visualizing Geometry, these are the tapes for you. They are entertaining as well as informative. A lot of fun watching and learning at the same time. I recommend them for any grade from middle school on up.

Just wanted to echo the earlier review... fortunately I didn't pay anything for this video; it was given to me. Still, it's not worth the price. Not only is it deadly dull and the talking heads overly pretentionous, but the piano music is the most annoying background music I've ever heard in a documentary. I wouldn't even think about showing this to my high school students.

I asked my college library to order this series, for possible use in my intro stats class, or for review use by my students. I've seen other Standard Deviants videos, which are generally pretty good, but this one is a bit disappointing. Disclaimer: I've only watched the first tape so far -- I hope 2 and 3 are better. There is just too much nonsense in it for me to be able to use it in class. The first tape, for example starts with several minutes of building a typically (for SD) comical plot line around some guy wanting to strike it rich by playing a slot machine (while running the credits as an aside) -- and then, unbelievably, it does not return to the slot machine scenario during the entire first tape!!!
