It is very slow-paced. Branderup is a great dressage rider, with fascinating horsemanship skills. In this video, he imitates, in period clothing,how people rode during the baroque time till early 20th century. Some scenes look like straight from old fashion cookie tins. The scene that he gallops, in Spanish costume, an Andalusian on the beach near Jerez is unbelievable. His English is not good. Horses are beautiful but scenes are choppy. Music OK.

Overall this is interesting and briefly shows some exercizes that can be very benificial and will later translate to under saddle. The lessons are pretty brief and are mostly an overview. The narrator is quite soft spoken and I missed quite a bit of what he was saying. The images are beautiful though and pretty self explanatory though some lack setup. It was interesting to see that they had a goat and a dog doing the same exercizes! I would prefer something a little less basic for the money, it would be nice if it went just a little further into each movement, setup, execution, desired result & trouble shooting etc. It could be that this is all new to me but I like things spelled out a bit more clearly. I HAVE SINCE PURCHASED the accompanying book to this DVD and hightly recommend ... Read More

This is a very informative book with an in depth look at the rider's conformation and anatomy. Very well written and extremely useful for instructors and students alike! It is also recommended reading for the USDF Instructors Certification program. DVD The book and video are a perfect marriage! This video was shown at my USDF Lungeing workshop for the Instrucors Cert. Program and I had to own it! Excellent demos on position faults and several exercises on how to correct. Beneficial for both the instructor and the student!!
