VHS : Back to the Future
Have you ever wanted to travel through time? To see the future? To witness historic events? Marty McFy(Michael J. Fox) finds hinself facing this when his friend "Doc" Emmett L. Brown(Christopher Lloyd) builds a time machine. Marty is accidentally sent back to 1955 (from 1985) ( he's only 17, so he hasn't been born yet) and disrupts his parents'(Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover) first meeting. On top of that, he might be stuck in 1955 because there isn't much plutonium around yet, and that's what makes the car a time machine.

The actors do a great job of combining reality and science fiction to make my favorite movie.

Do not show to young children who do not know cussing is wrong, as charactars swear freely.

VHS : Saving Private Ryan
I hope that this is the closest that I ever come to combat in my life. Thank God for the men that put their lives on the line to keep us, and the world, free. Hats off to Spielberg for the realism of the combat. That should be enough for all of us to make a promise to ourselves to personally thank as many vets as we can for serving to keep us free. War is no walk in the park, and this movie comes closest to capturing just how close to hell it really is. This movie teaches a lot about sacrifice, courage, heroism, and emotion. Sometimes there are causes greater than our own selves which are worth sacrificing for. A great movie for this era. Too many men of that generation have passed away - this captures a little bit of what was special about that generation. A must see for all kids as soon as they are ... Read More

In gladiator two of hollywood's best faces (Ridley Scott & Russell Crowe) join forces to deliver one of the most outstanding films of this century and took movie making to a whole new level. This 3 disc extended edition just made the movie a whole lot better too, with deleted scenes re edited and re cut just for this edition it's a must have for serious moviegoers. Here scenes that weren't fully explained in the original cut have been fixed with an extra 17 minutes of bonus footage.

This film has plenty of intense fighting scenes with all the fights being fast, hard-hitting, uncensored, and very bloody, which is what they should've been like. And every single fight sequence is unique from the others. which will please most people, great characters like Crowe and Phoenix, authentic storytelling, believable ... Read More

VHS : Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
After preventing the Nazis from gaining control of the all-powerful Ark of the Covenant, and freeing slave children from an oppressive cult, Indiana Jones is back once again for yet another thrilling adventure. Series star Harrison Ford returns as the title character, along with John Rhys-Davies reprising his role of Sallah from "Raiders of the Lost Ark", and new to the series we have the original James Bond himself, Sean Connery ("007: Goldfinger") as Indy's long lost archaeologist father. With two highly successful films already established in the series, the third one would no doubt enthrall fans to some degree, but would the quality of the first two films remain intact all the way through the third; or has Indiana Jones finally met his match?

Upon receiving disturbing news that his father, Professor Henry Jones, Sr. (Sean ... Read More

VHS : Cross of Iron (1977)
I saw "Cross of Iron" when it was in theatrical release in 1977 and thought it was a pretty good treatment of the German side of WWII.
I watched it again last night on DVD and found myself fast-forwarding past the dull spots. Since I have collected WWII German militaria, lots of little mistakes in uniforms and equipment jumped out at me. The most glaring was the imitation Reich war flag hanging in the background in the outdoor hospital scenes.
Coburn's performance holds up, but Schell's character is so broadly drawn as to seem malevolently cartoonish. And then there's Peckinpah's cliche treatment of violence by reverting to slow-motion when the shooting and stabbing start. It served him much better in "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid."
The art of the war film has matured considerably since 1977 and compared with "Saving Private ... Read More
