This has a lot of memorable moments, even though the underwater sequences are overlong, but a good villain, great Bond girl, and of course Connery. See it.

Sean Connery returns to play the super-secret-agent fot the third time, following Dr.No and From Russia with Love. I saw this in my Dad's home-theatre. He is, a great Sean Connery Fan and has all the Connery films in his collection. Gert Frobe is the villian of the title in the company of Oddjob. Bernard Lee returns as M and Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny. The script by Paul Dehn and Richard Maibaum is well plotted and entertaining. But the best part is still the titles. John Barry wrote the great music.
Even in the tiny town of Coonoor, in the Nilgiris Mountain ranges, the film ran to packed houses, and Connery became a house-hold name.

I am a James Bond purist. I've seen each James Bond movie (except Quantum of Solace) at least twice, and own all of the Special Edition DVDs from 2002. I have come to the conclusion that this is the best of the Bond films.

I've read several of the James Bond novels, and I believe that starting with Goldfinger, the film series began to rely too heavily on gadgets and other things that distracted from the plot. This and Dr. No are the most faithful to the novel series, and they also have the best production values. FRWL is the better of the two.

Since I already own all of the films on DVD from 2002, I was reluctant to re-purchase them when they were released as "Ultimate Edition" DVDs a couple years ago. I wound up not re-purchasing them, and I'm glad I didn't. I just bought Dr. No and FRWL on Blu-ray, ... Read More

VHS : Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
After preventing the Nazis from gaining control of the all-powerful Ark of the Covenant, and freeing slave children from an oppressive cult, Indiana Jones is back once again for yet another thrilling adventure. Series star Harrison Ford returns as the title character, along with John Rhys-Davies reprising his role of Sallah from "Raiders of the Lost Ark", and new to the series we have the original James Bond himself, Sean Connery ("007: Goldfinger") as Indy's long lost archaeologist father. With two highly successful films already established in the series, the third one would no doubt enthrall fans to some degree, but would the quality of the first two films remain intact all the way through the third; or has Indiana Jones finally met his match?

Upon receiving disturbing news that his father, Professor Henry Jones, ... Read More

I wouldn't go out of my way for this if I wasn't a Bond completist, but NSNA seems to me to be a fair-to-middling Bond outing that compares favorably to its contemporary (1983) 'official' competition, OCTOPUSSY. Despite a low budget the film doesn't feel cheap, the recycled plot is one of the better ones, and Connery, although hamming it up a bit as a middle-aged superspy, is still everybody's favorite Bond.

If you're comparing this to the early Connery, or even the Pierce Brosnan period, forget it - done at the height (depth?) of the Roger Moore period, NSNA is full of tongue-in-cheek, but handled better, IMHO, than the corny Moore scripts. Q-Algy was less overdone than John Cleese, though James Fox's "M" dialogue was sometimes a bit too over-the-top, Barbara Carrera had to make do with a part that was all ham, and ... Read More

9.The Longest Day starring: John Wayne, Robert Ryan, Richard Burton, Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum

VHS : The Longest Day
This is a 1962 attempt to be an accurate rendition of D day, based on Cornelius Ryan's book, "The Longest Day", when the allied forces of world war two crossed the English Channel and fought their way up the beaches of France. The whole film is of the events of that day.

The list of popular actors playing the parts of the various countries and ethnicities of the time is too long to mention in this review. However Eddy Albert (a method actor) was quite believable and contributed much to the energy of this rendition. Be sure to see Eddy Albert again in uniform in "Teahouse of the August Moon" (1956.) And that little cutie Irina Demark was the girlfriend of the producer, Darryl F. Zanuck.

You can tell this picture was remastered some time recently as it looks as crisp as the day it was made. And you can only ... Read More

VHS : You Only Live Twice
Since 007 is back in action, under a powerful Daniel Craig, its nice to look to Ian Fleming books. In this adventure Bond is more vulnerable than ever, since his wife, Tracy, were killed by Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

Fleming give us once again a wonderful construction for 007 personality. Exploring the dark side of his creation, and a interesting oriental background.
