VHS : Darkman
This movie is so bad that it's......OK.

Poorly constructed storyline, cheesy acting, cheap effects - this movie has it all. It's a 1950's drive in flick for the 90's.

If you have a lot of love for Sam Raimi or the Coen brothers, it's worth checking out. It's a very silly movie, a live action version of Bugs Bunny cartoon. Bruce Campbell has a part, and Frances McDormand makes an appearance.

VHS : Shocker (1989)
Anyone whose watched lots and lots of movies, always encounters some bad ones...it's the law of averages. But this movie, Shocker...was not just bad, it was horrible. No, horrible would be too kind. I was hoping it ended about 47 minutes before it actually closed it's final curtain. If you ever buy this movie in any format...remember...you were warned !!!!

VHS : The Gift
This movie was made in Savannah, Ga. If you saw Midnight In The Garden, you are already aware of the 'other' presence there of magic, obeah and other supernatural events. Ribisi is just incredible in this film. I really like this guy enormously. He gives 1000 percent in every performance. Ms. Blanchett shines as the gal with the gift. While the story is very over the top, all of the people depicted are right on. I did get a few phone calls from back home (Savannah) asking me if I had anything to do with this film inasmuch as I am known for having the gift, myself. Nope. Not a thing. But I did very much enjoy watching the film and understanding how difficult it is to be special in a small city. Seeing Katie Holmes topless was rather a shock, but this was before Tom came on the scene. Greg Kinnear gives a ... Read More

VHS : Darkman 3: Die Darkman Die
Aw hell, since I reviewed the other two, why not part 3, eh? Continuing in pretty much the same style as part 2, Darkman 3 gives us a new villain in the form of Jeff Fahey. Fahey's into marketing steroids and he's a lousy husband and father. Darkman's on hand to throw a wrench in his steroid operation. But when Fahey captures Darkman(thus screwing him once again right when he's on the verge of perfecting his synthetic skin. Man, this guy's always having the rug pulled out from under him at the last minute), he finds a way to make a super steroid from Darkman's blood, thus injecting his henchmen with the steroid and giving them Darkman's strength. He plans to make big bucks with this neat new drug. Darkman gets away and goes after Fahey, but along the way becomes infatuated with Fahey's wife and daughter who he feels ... Read More

VHS : The Evil Dead
"The Evil Dead" is an innovative, ground-breaking horror classic that has developed a cult following. Director Sam Raimi ("Darkman" and "Spiderman") was highly influenced by other well established horror megahits such as "The Exorcist," "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," and "Night of the Living Dead." A young Bruce Campbell ("Maniac Cop," "The Woods," and "Bubba Ho-Tep") is college student Ash; him and his friends rent a secluded cabin in the mountains. ("The Evil Dead" was filmed mostly in the backwoods of Morristown, near my home of Knoxville, Tennessee.) Demonic forces inhabit these woods. After discovering the Book of the Dead, the friends begin turning into demon possessed zombies. There is levitation and green vomit spewing as in the "Exorcist." They have learned that only bodily dismemberment can destroy a demon. ... Read More
