VHS : Last House on the Left
*possible spoilers* I orginally saw this movie, when my parents took us to the drive in, back in the early 70's. I may have been 6 or 7 years old. I was able to rent the movie tonight and rewatch it for the 1st time in 30 something years. So as you can imagine it is extremly dated, and it shows it's age. It is NOT a feel good movie, so if you are expecting 90 mins of fun and excitement, forget it. There are no special effects and the budget is obviously very small. However I felt that the directing was excellent and this is a very powerful movie and not for the squemish. The bumbling cops in the movie provided some very needed comic releif to offset the extremly disturbing subject matter. Let's face it the kidnapping, rape, mutilation and murder of two young teenage girls is bad ... Read More

VHS : A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 - The Dream Child
I've read some reviews on this movie, and a lot of people don't like it. I honestly didn't think it was too bad! The night before graduation, Dan and Alice are having sex, then the nightmares begin again. Alice is in the shower, then she's transported to the asylum where Amanda Krueger was raped and where Freddy was born. (Robert Englund does another awesome job as Freddy Krueger!) If Alice can find Amanda in the real world, Freddy will die. Freddy is reborn and instead of haunting Alice's dreams, he haunts her unborn baby's dream, mixing reality and the real world. During her dreams, she sees her son, Jacob as a child, trying to help her stop Freddy. There was one cool part when Freddy is on a skateboard, coming after Alice's friend. A gross part for me was when Freddy is making Greta eat a lot of food at the ... Read More

The box set itself is perfect. Anything and everything you could possibly want relating to the films. My complaint is with Amazon. It took forver to receive this. I ordered 3 things on the same day, the other two were here in less than a week *other items bought thru Amazon sellers* Then, when it finally gets here. It'd just been thrown in a box without any sort of padding! The corners were banged in! Plus, when I removed the plastic wrap part of the paint on the cover was pulled off as well! Really, I know this a great buy, but I wish Amazon would get its act together in regards of speedy shipping and taking care of their products.

Also, the picture they are showing must be the VHS box set, the DVD set it much smaller and has a different image of Freddy. He's standing with his back facing you ... Read More

VHS : People Under the Stairs
Wes Craven's The People Under the Stairs presents a unique idea for a horror film, but isn't quite able to pull it off. Phenomenal acting by the damnable ghetto owners and an unlikely 13-year-old hero add to the singularity, but the repetitious hunting through the walls of the prison-like house of horrors and the lack of victims makes the film more of an adventure than nail-biting horror. It's a fun little film, but not nearly ambitious enough to rank amongst the best of Craven's works.

13-year-old Poindexter (Brandon Adams), nicknamed "Fool" by his friends, is looking for an uncomplicated way to help his family pay for rent and his mother's operation. When older accomplice Leroy (Ving Rhames) and his buddy Spenser hatch a plan to rob the house of the seldom seen family that owns the entire ghetto area where ... Read More

VHS : A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors
Nightmare 3. Probably one of the best sequels to date. This is the movie where Freddy started using kids fears, ambitions, and hobbies against them. One of the best scenes is probably Phillips marionette walk. Still to this day grosses me out!

Also, a legendary line was coined in this movie. "Welcome To Primetime Bitch!". Which has been used for years and years since it's release.

This also sees the return of Nancy and introduction of Kristen. Heather Langenkamp and Patricia Arquette did an amazing acting job together. The pace of this movie is just right. And, in my opinion, has one of the best endings in any Nightmare movie!
