VHS : Stephen King's The Stand
alright the acting is subpar, (it was a made for tv mini series), The Stand still remains one of my most favorite Stephen King movie adaptions ever. It kept to the basic outline of the book, but it's impossible to take everything from King's epic novel.

4.5/5 The best parts of 'The Langoliers' are the acting and the directing. This never feels like a TV show. It feels like a solid theatrical release that is at times, inspired.

This isn't perfect of course, but the only flaws that stick out like a sore thumb are a few odd lines of flat dialogue. This all adds up to about 3 or 4 minutes of drag out of a three hour release. This is important, as 'The Langoliers' is all dialogue, like a stage play. In fact, this could be made into a stage play with little effort. So the fact that the dialogue is almost entirely solid is very important. It is not the best you will ever hear in film, but it is good enough, that top level acting talent will make it great. That is, fortunately, exactly what 'The Langoliers' has in David Morse, Dean Stockwell, and particularily ... Read More

VHS : The Raven
A raven appears at the home of magician Erasmus Craven (Vincent Price) claiming to be a man transformed by the evil Dr. Scarabus (Boris Karloff). Craven turns him back into human form and is then told that his late wife is alive and well and living at Scarabus castle.

This movie is supposed to be campy-funny, but I found it dated and dull. The costumes are out of King Arthur while the dialogue is modern; the plot made no sense and wasn't even remotely funny. It was set, apparently, in the middle ages, yet Price recites the 19th century poem, "The Raven." Price played it straight while Karloff was obviously kidding. The whole first hour was a set-up for the "magical duel" between Price and Karloff which turned out to be just lame effects and sleepwalking actors. The only thing that kept me watching ... 5.The Dead Zone starring: Christopher Walken, Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Herbert Lom, Anthony Zerbe
directed by: David Cronenberg
August 26, 1991
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : The Dead Zone
Christopher Walken has made a career out of taking those oddball, quirky, edgy roles. Never satisfied with the easy path, he, like Harvey Keitel, takes the tricky, adventurous over the safe and sometimes more profitable parts. He often plays the role of a strange, eerie, kind of nutcase character. Always he seems to be stretching his acting muscles and evolving as an actor.
The book is part of the prolific Stephen King's franchise. In "The Dead Zone," The lead character, Walken as Johnny, spends five years in a coma, and comes out of it with psychic powers. Because he can see into the past and future, and see events taking place elsewhere in the present, he is able to save lives, snare a serial killer, smoke our evildoers, and prevent catastrophes. He learns that he can not only foretell the future but change it. ... Read More

I bought this movie hoping that It would be good like the mini series. It was not so but it did follow stephen kings storyline. The ending is unrealistic and this movie is just plain boring. I had to stop and take a brake from it because i was so bored. I WON'T ever watch this version again.

I saw this several times as a kid and even though it scared me alot, I always regarded it as a treat when it was on. I always found it on late at night and no matter how many times I saw it, I would brace myself for and then jump out my seat at a certain point in the movie-everyone who has seen it knows which part I'm talking about. As many have made reference to, the music kind of sticks with you and probably adds a lot to the scary atmosphere. I haven't seen it as an adult and I wonder if it is as scary as I remember.
