I have all of Barbra Streisand movies on Dvd except for this one. This is one of the biggest mysteries. It probably is Barbra's best film ever and it is still not out on Dvd. What are they waiting for? I wish someone knew the answer to this question.

VHS : Mortal Storm
This WWII political drama starring Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan, along with very young Robert Stack, Dan Dailey, Robert Young and of course, the Wizard of Oz, Frank Morgan, who is fabulous in this dramatic role, has been overlooked by the wizards of Hollywood. Due to the overall excellence of the film, great acting and wonderful scenes of Jimmy and Margaret "skiing" in the Alps at night, it should be listed, at least, as one of the best 100 films.

4.Green Dolphin Street starring: Van Heflin, Lana Turner, Donna Reed, Richard Hart, Frank Morgan

VHS : Green Dolphin Street
"Green Dolphin Street" is one of those cheesefests of Hollywood's Golden Age that has slipped into obscurity. At least "Black Narcissus",the camp classic, has its own Criterion Edition. Why NOT the love triangle set in New Zealand, with its needlessly complicated plot and Lana Turner in her fantastical outfits?

"Green Dolphin Street" is all about two sisters who live on the Channel Islands between England and France. There's the good girl, Marguerite (Donna Reed), and the bad grrrrl Marianne (Lana Turner). They're both enamored of the dull William (Richard Hart) William sets off to China as a trader. After a drunken night, he dashes off a letter to his intended... but he writes "Marianne" instead of "Marguerite." Friends don't let friends drink and write. William realizes his mistake too ... VHS : Casablanca (Aniv B&W)
Casablanca is generally considered to be on of the greatest films of all time. After watching it i can certainly some evidence for it but i'm not sure if i would necessarily hold it in that high regard.

I think a large part of my opinions of this movie come from the fact that it is an older movie and many movies have been influenced directly from it. Watching in today, much of the story, particularly the romance, seemed comical simply because i had seen it used so often. Admittedly, before i saw it i was expecting to not like it at all but luckily i did enjoy most of it. First and foremost i really appreciated the writing. The dialogue, especially between Rick and captain Renault, was both entertaining and intelligent. I found myself enjoying the political intrigue in the film much more than the romance.

VHS : Picnic (Widescreen)
Both Borders and Barnes and Noble now carry a widescreen version of Picnic:

http://video.barnesandnoble.com/DVD/Picnic/William-Holden/e/043396828797/?itm=4

Widescreen on one side, fullscreen on the other. It says "Columbia Classics" across the top of the package.

I wish Amazon would carry this version, as I don't want to open a new account at one of those other places just for one item.

VHS : Somewhere in Time
This is a fantasy movie from start to finish. But it is very well cast and the props and scenic backdrops are fantastic. Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour are wonderfully romantic. A love story about time travel for the ages in my opinion. It's my all time favorite.
