VHS : Arc the Lad - Oath of Vengeance (Vol. 5)
Arc the Lad may have started slower then most anime, but now in this 5th volume old secrets are coming back to haunt the characters.
Elk is thrown into the greatest struggle of his life as he finally confronts the man who killed his family. With the Spirit Shield destroyed there is no where to hide. Clive is lurking around very corner, ready to unleash his sinister plan. (and yes, it's sinister)
I can't recommend this show more! It's a definite must see.

VHS : Arc the Lad - Fireball (Vol. 2)
All right, so first (I'm doing things backwards today), I will start out with the DVD/technical stuff. The DVD only contains 3 episodes, as did the first one, and while I understand the series is only 14 episodes, did they have to be released on 6 DVDs? Nor does this DVD have any extras to speak of. It doesn't even pretend, by counting the DVD credits as an extra. Pretty lame, and not worth much money. Luckily, when you buy the DVDs new, they are pretty cheap (between $5-$10), and the complete collection has been released which is also much cheaper used.

As far as dubbed VS subtitled goes...I'm generally not faithful to one or the other. I admit that I often try the dub first, but on my second run through (assuming the dub was good enough to keep watching) I try the ... Read More

VHS : Arc the Lad - Wanted (Vol. 3)
These days, movies that are Action/Adventure tend to focus more on the "Action" and leaves out the "Adventure". What I really liked about this anime is that it has both -- along with a solid story. In terms of storytelling and pacing, it's a mix between a PRINCESS MONONOKE, NADIA: SECRET OF THE BLUE WATER, and BATTLE ANGEL. The series itself is not wall-to-wall NINJA SCROLL action, but there's enough action and of different types -- supernatural powers, swordfights, guns, and aerial dogfighting. It's not the most romantic movie or the most deep, but what's great about it is that it has a little of everything all throughout, which really touches your heart. ARC THE LAD numbers among COWBOY BEBOP, GASARAKI, and NEON GENESIS EVANGELION as one of the few anime series that I have to get the COMPLETE ... Read More

This show is very good. I suggest you read up on it before you buy anything so you know all the facts. I really like it, I bought all six volumes on video. It is rated for ages 15+ so it's not anything for your little brother. There is some gore but it doesn't bother me ( I watched it with my mom, she's not that into anime but she says she likes this show). At a point in the story the main character Elk will seem to go crazy (volumes 4 to 5) but I still suggest that you buy them. I don't blame him as everyone important in his life is dead. Don't worry though, he snaps out of it just in time to help his friends defeat the evil threatening the fate of the world. The last tape is the best of the set. There are some familiar voices (the character Clive is voiced by Ethan Murray, the guy who does ... Read More

VHS : Arc the Lad - Day Of Reckoning (Vol. 6)
I honestly feel hurt that the creators of arc the lad decided to make one of the most boring dvds possible. This series has just gone downhill though. I have seen all of it except dvd 3, but can clearly point out many problems with it. The series starts out good, a fresh character and his dog to get you going. By the end though, you could probably care less about everyone. This dvd shows how bad you can turn a series with just a few episodes.

You meet up with Clive, that evil guy that is always evil. Apparently he is evil because he likes being evil(that is his entire motivation). He wants to open some box(like the box is crazy and has these mysterious powers like arc) that will turn stuff into demons, or something. Anyways Eliza is just a sub character that really isn't that cool, shes just ... Read More
