I could not wait to see these two superb acting icons go at it on the big screen. What a wonderful movie it is. Great writing, screenplay, and oh what great spins they each put on their roles. No two other actors could have played it better. Wickedly amusing entertainment.

The picture looks better, no more blips or speckles. And I thought it was interesting when William Friedkin says Hitchcock loved working with fake backdrops. I never knew that, interesting in the age of CGI technology.

This was just like the book written by Agatha Christie. I have read all of her books and this was the scarest and closest to reality. I couldn't believe there was a nude scene!!

I saw this film when it first came out. It was such a boring farce. I kept watching the film in the hope that it would make sense, but it never did. Don't waste your money.

I saw this film when I was a teen and I was enthralled with the exotic over seas locale. I like Stuart Whitman, a more than servicable actor in my opinion. I'm now in my 40's and can see the holes in the movie. I still like Stuart Whitman. In the final analysis, this is a Saturday afternoon B movie. The dialogue is a bit stilted between the Asian actors and the English/American actors. The camera moves in sometimes jerky ways. There are 3 or 4 chop-socky scenes and the camera zooms in and out in the typical way. Martial arts fans might appreciate these scenes. They don't serve to move the film along as far as I can see. The special feature of the narration is very enlightening. This should be shown to every student in a Film 101 course as a lesson in how NOT to make a film. The comments by the original, 'first' director, Monte ... Read More

I saw the movie when it came out in the mid 90's and after visiting Savannah this past summer & touring the Mercer house and then reading the book for the fist time, I just had to see it again. I remembered it as being better than I now rate it, but I also read the book before seeing it the second time & I found several things lacking or rushed when comparing it to the book. It is still a must see if you liked the book, but remember that a movie always cuts & changes some things that you just can't figure out why, like why is the young man's name Billy in the movie & Danny in the book ?

Two thoroughly unappealing characters are for some reason married to each other and take up residence in her UK home town which is seemingly populated by even less appealing, drooling, drinking thugs. The whole thing just runs on for way too long. How George and Hoffman ever ended up together is a mystery that perhaps only Lolita could understand. There is a fairly grpahic "sort-of rape" which is never brought up between the husband and wife after it happens. David Warner plays a version of Frankenstein monster that brings everything to a head when the drooling thugs converge on the Hoffman/George house. Since you really find it hard to care for any of these people, the violent conclusion is not worth waiting for. Maybe in its' day ...
