Any film that can garner 299 ONE STAR REVIEWS from gun enthusiats be all bad. Why is it any time someone points out some of the flaws in American society and some of its attitudes they are vilified? Surely we are strong enough to take the criticism.

Michael Moore tends to be a bit skewed in his perspective, however, when there is enough evidence to support his skewed perspective it makes for a more frigthening picture. My having lived in Flint, MI for nine years may not have ever happened had I seen the movie before the move there because I may never have moved- too much of it is (still) true!

3.Millhouse - A White Comedy starring: Richard Nixon

I saw this film only once -- on CBC television's "The Passionate Eye" -- in 1992, but I will always remember it. It was the first time I learned of Nixon's dirty tricks campaigns against Jerry Vorhees and Helen Cahagan-Douglas in the 1940's and the 1950s. There is also some interesting stuff on Nixon's role in the Hiss trial. The film is both irreverant and serious at the same time. I hope and pray that the executors of the de Antonio estate have the good sense of re-releasing this film on DVD.

Does anyone know if this release contains the out-of-character commentary from the critereon?

(the version that came out before the special edition (which featured the hilarious in-character commentary)??

VHS : Disappearance of Kevin Johnson
Interesting technique - a mystery wrapped in a documentary-style presentation. So real-sounding that you want to know more and find yourself becoming more engrossed as details are progressively revealed. The climax plays Hollywood at their own game. Perhaps a little tame at the end but full marks for innovation!
I've seen it long time ago and I had to see it again. Only the VHS was available on the market in the DVD WORLD :).
I digitized and will be in my good movie collection.
Must see for filmmakers.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

It will get better.

Tomorrow is another day.

Don't give up.

Never stop dreaming.

You can do anything if you set your mind to it.

Hang on, Friday's coming.

Smile.

Just be happy.

You have such a bright future.

Think positive.

Change. We can make a difference.

The rich get richer and, well you know the rest.

I suppose they have to say something.

Right?

This is waaay before the age of personal trainers. Not only is their a small amount of bare skin, but the bare skin they show ain't worth seein'. This stuff got better in the 80s, when there was ample supply of attractive, and less inhibited women.

VHS : American Movie
"THEY'RE MAKING A MOCKERY OF MY WORDS!". So laments Mark, the quirky independent film director that wants nothing more in life than finish his horror film. His dream is hindered by so many artistic nightmares--casting, finances, scenery, bill collectors, family issues...geez, it's hilarious!

"THEY WERE STILTED PERFORMANCES, AND I DID NOTHING TO RECTIFY THEM!" Mark gets frustrated working with his crew. There are so many pebbles of humor that add up to a landslide avalanche of laughter. Plus there is such a heartfelt warmth resonating through each scene, this is such a fun movie.

"LIFE IS KINDA COOL SOMETIMES!". Mark has such an undeniable passion for his craft. American Movie really connects because it's not trying too hard to be funny. It's just a touching portrait of life. It ... Read More

VHS : 20 Dates

I adore everything about this film. I think it's pretty obvious that this film is not the 'documentary' it pretends to be, although I really wish it was. I personally don't believe it's likely to fall in true love with someone, knowing you are on camera; but hey, it is Hollywood.

Myles Berkowitz is a divorced, self-centered director/actor who makes a lot of bad decisions and can't keep his big mouth shut. He's decided to go on just 20 dates to chronicle trying to find love in Los Angeles, and attempt to find real people falling in true love.

Myles is incredibly annoying, and everything he does tells me he isn't looking for love(from his rude physical comments to disrespect for just about everyone), but that's why I adore it so much. Myles is every single one of us who thinks we are ... Read More
