VHS : The NFL's Greatest Games - Super Bowl III (New York Jets vs. Baltimore Colts)
Having grown up with the AFL in the late 60's, hearing Curt Gowdy's call of this game is a great way to relive those fall Sunday afternoons. My only complaint is NFL Films' production of the video could have been better. Since Curt Gowdy's calls were recreated, the calls sometimes give away what happens next. Also, when Gowdy is talking about Unitas as "one of the greats" they show a close-up of Earl Morral. Finally, the fake crowd noise was distracting. Minor points, but enough to stop me from giving it five stars. On a positive note, this approach to the game, showing most all of the plays in sequence, is a lot better than the typical highlight video.

In the mood to sate my craving for a little gridiron goodness during the NFL off-season, I fished this particular video outta the quarter bin at my fave used-CD-and-video joint, took it home, and fired `er up. While I thought most of the game highlight footage and sideline action was pretty cool, I had a bit of trouble with the "rocking" tunes they set the action to. I also found some of the editing and video `special effects' kinda silly-some of the stuff reminded me of something you'd see comin' outta the editing room of one of those "make-your-own-music-video" shops at the local mall.

Anyway, back to my gripe about the tunes. Now don't get me wrong-- I like the works of John `Cougar' Mellencamp, Bon Jovi, Elton John, and Robert Palmer all right. I just don't feel that their songs ... Read More

VHS : Pure Payton
As former Bears Coach Mike Ditka said
once, the best Football player he ever
saw and I second that! How many of us
remember all the charitible causes Walt
did? Not to mention the records: First
alltime in NFL rushing and career total
yards when he retired. He also threw 8
TDs, 7 right handed, noe left handed.
He averaged 44.+ yds., per quick kick
during his career, had an INT as reserve
Safety once and even played QB for one
full quarter when the Bears ran out of
bodies back in 1984. Simply Put, Pure
Payton. They'll never be another better,
