VHS : Misery
If ever a movie has made me feel as trapped as its antagonist does, Misery stands right up there. I must admit that I have never read King's novel on which this film was based, but it didn't stop the movie from chilling my bones. It was an effort just to sit through it; it's that intense. James Caan and especially Kathy Bates deliver truly spectacular performances as popular (and, to his grudge, commercialised) writer Paul Sheldon and his psychotic "number one fan" Annie Wilkes. The movie has a justified reputation as a two-actor film, as the twisted relationship the characters share is what makes the movie so memorable.

Bed-ridden after being saved from a car crash in the midst of a blizzard in the Rocky Mountains, Paul Sheldon finds himself at the mercy of Annie Wilkes, a deceptively ... Read More

VHS : The Shining
'The Shining',where would we be without Stanley Kubrick's distorted version of Stephen King's classic novel?the horror industry would be at a standstill. This is my absolute favorite of horror-films,it's a very dark film indeed.Believe it or not, this film is not much like the novel the one made for TV in early 2000 had more elements from the book not mentioned in the 1980 version-which actually works for me:)kubrick unlocked the darkest doors to his imagination when he made this film.Everything from the creepy little twins,to the Timberline Lodge Hotel(shown as the Overlook Hotel in the movie).Down to the old song you hear in the ballroom which was written in the 20's or 30's by Ray Noble and his Mayfair Dance Orchestra and the eerie film score by Wendy Carlos. There's not too many people who haven't ... VHS : Apt Pupil
I loved Stephen King's Different Seasons, except for one thing. I always thought that the story APT PUPIL was about fifty pages too long. The film version takes care of this concern, distilling PUPIL down to it's basic elements: old evil passing itself on to a young, all too eager student. Ian McKellen (yep, Gandolf himself!) is perfectly, quietly malevolent as the ancient nazi war criminal, hiding out in suburbia. Brad Renfro plays Todd Bowden, the normal-looking high school kid, concealing a darkness that appears to be insatiable and without limits. Todd fools his family, friends, and guidance counselor (David Schwimmer), into believing he is just another highly gifted teenager. In reality, he is a sociopathic wretch, coasting along by gaining the misplaced trust of others. Studying the holocaust in history ... Read More

Okay after reading a few reviews I felt the need to put some information in here so maybe some people can understand some things they didn't in the movie. Since it's based upon the book (which I have read) it is for the most part true to the book, but there is some things I have noticed that are not cleared up and some people are confused on, yes it really doesn't have much to do with the Pet Sematary, but this whole story was written based upon King's own experience, in the introduction of my book he tells about how this story came to be. He had moved to Maine to work at the university, and they lived along side a road just as bad as in the book, his son actually did almost make it into the road where a big 18 wheeler was well on its way but luckily for him he says either his son fell before he made it to the road or he pulled ... VHS : Lawnmower Man (Unrated)
If no one has heard of The Lawnmower Man series, this movie was a considered a breakthrough in movie magic in its time during the early 90's. Many people say this was the TRON movie of its era heavy on special effects and blazing visuals never seen in movie theaters. This was true and The Lawnmower Man was astounding when it first came out however it somehow lost its appeal since the special effects actually bring down the movie.

I saw this unintentionally as I went to the cinema to see the other film of a double feature. This was the most amazing surprise of my life. Unlike other King films, this isn't really horror - no goblins, unless you count the evil Stillson.

Others have written well about this film. I'd just like to say that if you like psychological thrillers with a twist, you'll love this film.

I was looking for this movie for a long time. I was thrilled when I finally found it on Amazon. I also remember watching the TV series back in the 80's. A young boy reads stories from a book to distract a witch who plans to eat him. This film has the very handsome, young Christian Slater; Deborah Harry from the 80's rock band Blonde; Steve Buscemi who played Mr. Pink in "Reservoir Dogs"; Rae Dawn Chong who also starred in "Quest for Fire"(another great film) and many other great actors. If you enjoyed "Twilight Zone: The Movie," you will definitely enjoy this film.
