[good things]
It's a great, but typical haunted house movie, even though not very interesting it was entertaining. The girl wasa very good and creepy addition to the downright eerie backing music/score. I believe the movie was very well done, and the location was right on.

[the bad]
Typically with movies like this, the bad acting is a given-- we have that. We also have almost no blood, and the blood and effects we get were obvious low budget, but alright. The story also kind of drags on a little too long, there were times when I found myself wanting to hit fast forward. The overdubbing wasn't too great either.

[final thoughts]
Umberto Lenzi is not known for making great films, Ghost House is nothing different, but definitely one of ... Read More

VHS : Crawlers, The (aka "Troll 3")
This is quite possibly one of the worst movies of the modern era, and it's just a darned shame that MST 3000 never got hold of it.

That said, this is a FANTASTIC party flick. Slap it in the VCR and settle in for a couple hours of mockery and hooting. The movie closes with what is quite possibly one of the worst miniature sequences EVER done. It's beyond painful.

The beautiful colors, camera angles, and bloody effects are what kept me watching this movie. The actors in this have to be some of the most un-charismatic ever! it was fun to see them dispatched before they could say another word and put me to sleep! This is the english version and unfortunately the dubbing is not funny, something that would have helped the entertainment value. Like most european horror this is shocking because of the violence and not scary, with very little suspense(see "let's scare jesica to death" if you want all that). DVD picture is very good, bright and colorful. Audio is in english only and very low. special features trailers of other Bava titles.

I had seen this movie a number of times on tv...It is a few different stories...I love the old B-movie scary, vampire legends...only when I viewed the movie on tv, it was dubbed in english...I had no idea this would be in Italian with subtitles...disappointed with that...I really think the voice of Boris makes the whole vampire story stand out...oh well...thumbs down on this version....

VHS : Welcome to Spring Break
Perhaps it was only a matter of time before someone mixed together the spring break movie with a slasher flick. Or, should I say, a slasher flick with a spring break movie? That such a fusion took place in the late 1980s should come as no surprise since that decade saw the flowering and subsequent wilting of both of these cinematic genres. What is surprising, to me at least, is that none other than longtime Italian sleaze director Umberto Lenzi presided over this questionable hybrid. Lenzi, who made tons of memorable films from as far back as the 1950s, is probably best known for giving birth to the notorious cannibal craze with "Man From Deep River" and continuing the tradition with the nauseating "Eaten Alive." He also made the great giallo "Seven-Blood Stained Orchids," the over the top thriller "Violent Protection," and a ... Read More

VHS : Jungle Holocaust (Last Cannibal World) (Dub)
If you are curious about the infamous Spaghetti Cannibal genre then this is the movie to start with. It's a real jungle adventure from beginning to end with beautifully weird music. I would give it five stars if it was possible to watch the movie without the scenes of animal killings. The interview with the lead actor is painful to watch but worth it for the line "That sheep's liver was my destiny" (or something like that). Many people skip this one and go right to Deodato's other movie in the genre, Cannibal Holocaust. I don't really consider that a representative cannibal movie as it is more artistically disturbing and seems to have a deeper meaning about human trust. Jungle Holocaust is just a fun movie where the cannibals really are cannibals and want to eat you for the same reason you might enjoy a well cooked leg ... Read More

I SAW THIS ON TV BACK IN THE 60'S & REMEMBERED IT BEING PRETTY SCARY WITH A COOL VAMPIRE/WEREWOLF/WHATEVER? TRANSFORMATION SCENE...A STRIPPER HAS HER FACE DISFIGURED (IT'S NOT ALL THAT BAD) IN A CAR ACCIDENT & THE ATOMIC VAMPIRE DOCTOR KEEPS HER BEAUTIFUL BY KILLING OTHER WOMEN (IT'S A GLAND THING) INCLUDING HIS ASSISTANT (SHE'S THE HOT ONE OF THE TWO) WHO REALLY LOVES DR. JEKYLL/ MR. ATOMIC VAMPIRE. CRAZY, TRASHY, DEMENTED, SEXY, SLEAZY, FUN !!!
THE ALPHA DVD BRINGS THIS RATING DOWN A NOTCH OR TWO. THERE IS A CONSTANT HUMMMMM THROUGHOUT, LOTS OF JUMPS & SPLICES & THE IMAGE ISN'T ALL THAT SHARP AT TIMES. IT SEEMS TO BE MISSING SCENES AS WELL, MAKING VIEWING THIS NEAT LITTLE SCHLOCKER SOMEWHAT CONFUSING...TO ME THIS IS STILL A FONDLY REMEMBERED SLICE OF TV TRASH & I RECOMMENDED IT TO ALL, REGARDLESS...

For the longest time, I avoided this film. I thought it would be blah to say the least. I WAS WRONG!!!!! THIS FILM WAS AMAZING!!!! The score was superb!!! I love horror films with music to match (not the typical/tired "metal/rock" music of modern horror)!!!! The film was creepy in every sense!!!! The ending could have been better, but I loved it despite that!!!! Buy this dvd!!! It is a must in your collection of horror!!!!
